Yup, it was SBST's demonstrator. It got the same engine sound with the Tibs' bendies.First started off with ARBP service 195 in 1998, after which it landed in BNDEP and deployed on services 18 and 290. The bus was then sold off to New Zealand somewhere in 2006 together with SBS998Y (Volvo MK4 bendy).
man, it's quite a sad thing that SBST sold off the 2 bendies. If they can keep it as a SP......

They could have jollywell deployed it on Service 16 which has high demand, and the Service 16's route does not permit for DDs to be deployed.
Service 70 is obviously a neglected service in YCK terminal compared to other SBST services passing by or terminating at YCK MRT which have already got WAB fleets in them (regreadless of Volvo B9TL or Scania K230UBs).
That is what I personally feel.

Should have sold SBS999U to SMRT instead

If Service 16 is not possible, can also give to either 222, 291 or 293.

Before we even touch on the deployment, let's get down on the REAL REASONS why it was sold off. Maybe then, you will get a clearer picture.

I heard that service 16 cannot get Scania K230UBs is due to the Merdeka bridge.

Well...svc 70 isn't neglected. It has 2 VSOs, some volvo buses. And a lot of LO3x. As long it can cater to the crowd, it's really fine.

hiya, there are reasons that SBST want to sold off....

Agree. It used to have a lot of LO3X for its DD fleet, but its DD fleet got an upgrade early last year with VO3X. That was already a good move.
Just wait till SBST buys more new buses, even if it doesn't get the Scanias, it may get something better.

With only one-of-a-kind of such buses, spare parts are not easy to find. So they let go.

Then i personally other svc in yck Ter is neglected. Because sv 70 got the most number of VSO Perm
Sv70, 2VSO
Sv72, None
Sv76, 1VSO
Sv162, None
Happy with this conclusion?

Yeah...lucky for you that it sticks to Sv62
If SBST would keep the bendies i think only the Volvo will be kept and put in on S62.

turning at Geylang would be a difficult job...

My friend who drive an off service 61 from AMDEP to Kallang Bahru using that route does not have this problem. If a 14.5m Long bus can do it why not a bendy?
okok...we are kinda going off tracks of the topics. Before I end this, SBS997 will have no problem turning at geylang. And also, I dun see the reason why bendies have any difficulties turning at geylang. Maybe u should compare the loop at CCK Ave 5. The loop where Sv 300 always loops twice in a trip. Although the difference is not that obvious, but worth a compare with the one at geylang....

A bendy is more flexible than a 14.5m because of the turn table. What time did he drive the bus? If it's peak hours I think other road users will make noise liao.
@1pm on a Saturday,The driver bus broke down so the replacement is TIB1081S if i'm not mistaken.
