Introduced in May 1997. Between Hougang Central interchange and Boon Lay interchange.
In Sep 2000, extended to Sengkang interchange.
On Sunday 27 Jul 2003, shortened to loop at Marina Centre, under NEL rationalisation phase 2.
On Saturday 02 July 2005, skipped the stop along Orchard Link and amended to call at the stop along Grange Rd.
On 26 Dec 05, service was enhanced and extended to Pioneer Rd North and short trips were during peak hours, 502A and 502B with 502A skipping Jurong West/East Ave 1, Toh Guan Rd and Boon Lay way and 502B starting and ending at Jurong West Ave 1 skipping Pioneer Rd North, Jurong West Ave 5, St 75, St 64 and Boon Lay Ave.
Double deckers were introduced back recently.
On Sunday 15 Jun 2008, calls at an additional pair of bus stops along Jurong West St 64.
Was service 502 under full HGDEP last time before it got shortened in 2003? Remembered seeing Volvo MK4s, Tridants, VO3x and a VSO.

Both HGDEP & BBDEP, then HGDEP & SLBP. After the route got shortened, it went under pure SLBP control. Former Express 507 was under BBDEP and then shifted over to SLBP with 502.

Lower Kent Ridge Rd already has service 95.
I'm thinking of a public bus service plying Kent Ridge Drive and Prince George's Park, this portion of NUS currently only has its internal shuttle services plying, service 48 could be a good choice to ply this route.

I don't think public transport will duplicate their internal transport entirely. Besides, all public transport should do is bring the people into NUS, then transfer to the internal shuttles should you need to go anywhere else.

Isn't it better for the public transport to bring people directly to a place instead of dropping them at another place to transfer to the internal shuttle services to the place where they want to go?
Before 2001, Lower Kent Ridge Rd between Kent Ridge Crescent and NUH does not has any public bus services. People going to this part of Lower Kent Ridge Rd have to take internal shuttles. It was in 2001 and after, people have a public bus service 95 from the nearest MRT station (Buona Vista) to Lower Kent Ridge Rd so they don't have to rely on taking service 95 to NUH and transferring to the internal shuttles.

Well, that I didn't know, but it would make sense to me that since its within NUS area, public transport wouldn't have to necessarily cover all areas...the internal shuttles should do those :).

Agree with you that public transport is not possible to cover all areas of NUS. However public bus services are plying Kent Ridge Crescent and Lower Kent Ridge Rd but why no public bus service plying Kent Ridge Drive? NR11 plied Kent Ridge Drive in the past.
Anybody know when 117 is coming? And also which routes it plies?

Probably by year end.

Gone with 3N, up with 117?
LOL...
SBST did not remove SBST plates on the poles along Bukit Panjang Road despite covering up 3N stickers with red stickers.
Hope its a dream come true =)
So extension for sbst48 to Kent Ridge has been scrapped? WIth oil prices slided down to 60USD, isn't it now a better time to roll out?
And what happen to PTC website? After approved the fare increase, they had stopped to update the services changes requests info put up by the bus companies? Or there indeed no requests submited by the bus companies from July 08 till now?
Whaaa... So confusing. Now dunno what is real or not... Zzzz... Ai yah PTC should just deregulate SG bus company better la... Then at least Sg got more "viable routes"/... Haizzz

Actually, at West Coast Rd, when Cityshopper 580 got withdrawn, they also left a blank plate there. AMK Ave 3 also has a blank plate. I dont think they mean anything much.

The correct way is to look at SBST or SMRT website or refer to bus stop poster or in the news(sometimes). PTC website is just a "guide".

I think it's a dream not coming true... The SBST plates has removed a few weeks ago liao... =(
The application from the bus companies, though approved by the PTC, may or may not be implemented by the bus companies themselves. If the lag time is too long, they have to resubmit the application again.

Even with low oil price, if they are facing manpower and bus shortage, there's nothing they can do also.
