Hi, i was told that the first bendy bus was air delivered into singapore. Just wondering, on what aircraft was it delivered by as i dun think the common B744F can't handle a load of its length ? Any pics ?
I remember seeing it but forgot when. Anyway, the first bendy bus of TIBS is the Mercedes Benz 0405G (Hispano Mark I)

the bus flew from germany?

Should be Spain, directly from Hispano's factory. Mercedes Benz (then) manufactures the chassis in Germany then delivers it to Spain , Hispano's Factory to do bodywork. THen it is flown here. Should be like that if im not wrong. ![]()

Yes that's right, but theres the later part of the story. From the news article it states the vehicle was driven from Spain to Frankfurt, Germany where it boarded the cargo plane bound for Singapore.
If i am not wrong, you could get a coloured version of the photo at lee kong chain refrence library in tibs magazine and english text..
Wow, thnks 4 the pic. It looks more like the antonov 124 to me. They must have the airflown this so as to be the first to intro bendy bus in sin. Remember SBS intro theirs a few months later. Any idea whther SBS T export any of their buses as a whole ?

I thought buses can only be sent by ships but a bus transported by a plane? That is weird, given the fact that it's an 18 metre Bendy bus.

There are much bigger stuffs that are transported by planes. Some Airbus fuselage are transported by plane, Airbus' own Beluga. You can and probably should read up more.

What's so weird? It's not as if the bus was shipped on a 737 or an A320. You do know the cargo transporters are huge enough to accommodate such buses, even bigger ones, right?

RA-76513 was an Illyushin Il-76, which crashed in August 1996.

An Il-76 is 46.59 m (152' 10") long, long enough to put 2 17.5m (50' 8") bendies.

for those who serve as NS in SAR should know or at least see how they direct the BX and M113 ba...i think it's the same way as guiding a bus w/o banging the wall...

evey1 onboard died

The 'featured airplane' crashed less than a kilometre short of the runway, killing everybody onboard. It seemed to have developed some technical problem from what I've red and was forced to make an emergency landing.
