The good thing about merging services is that it can save service numbers and trouble just to transfer buses. The bad thing, on the other hand, may cause the routes to be too long and drivers may not be accustomed.
Just a tip: if you want to merge feeder services into trunk services, do take note of how you manage the fare as well.
Suggested service mergers:
941 and 945? Become intratown 943
SMRT Trunk 949 - Bukit Batok Int to Bukit Batok Rd (loop)
SMRT Trunk 949A - Bukit Batok Int to Bukit Batok Int via Bukit Batok Rd (loop)
(Similar Style of 113 route)
Merger of 941 & 947
then better not.this is quite a waste of time when you urge 111 and 99 BCs to drive long routes when the service some more need to turn in and out.
AND keep 502 there.502 serving marina ctr has a purpose.
if you want, merge 36 and 111.and put a lot of kubs.
On weekday mornings, espescially around 6.30am-7am, buses serving on route 66 gets especially crowded--from Bukit Batok all the way to Dunearn Road, near Hwa Chong JC (due to the number of schools there). Double deckers cannot serve due to low bridges along the later part of Dunearn Road (or is it?)
Is it possible to shorten 66B to Hwa Chong JC, run them during the school rush period and allow double deckers on them? This would also ease the student demand for services 157 and 174--which are also packed like sardines during the school rush period even though they are already using double deckers.

I think cannot, BNL is SBST territory.
However merger of 925 and 858 might work. If not then 925 + 969, CCK to Tampines.

Crazy..... Although a large part of the route is express sector, the total distance is too long for even a 2 direction service never to say a loop service. (Around 135 fare stages in total!)
Merging of services 187 and 858?? Can't be done man. too long of a distance will cause commuters to wait for a long time to reach their destination. So this merger isnt that advisable. Besides, who would want to take a svc with many stops?

Any of these mergers involving route 858 could make it's route insanely long; don't forget that it's extension into Sembawang was denied by the air-brained people at the Public Transport Council (despite it being a short detour which could have enhanced connectivity for Sembawang residents by A LOT) with the reason citied as that it will make the route too long; any sort of merger of route 858 with any other bus route in Woodlands that runs west is suicide.
I still say: push for that Sembawang detour until they relent. That detour wasn't too long.

i dare you to merge 30 and 178. and den compare the journey time with 168.

30 + 178 = more insane than route 182 in the year 1972.
A bus captain driving this route will only need to do at most six trips a day (one trip from Bedok to Woodlands and vice-versa) for a complete day's duty, and this is assuming operating hours from around 5 or 6 AM to 12 midnight or 1 AM.

Why not merge Service 024 with Service 138? Zoo Direct from Changi Airport.
You want crazy mergers, I will give you one crazy merger I just thought up:
Routes 858 + 178 + 30 + 9
Changi Airport > Woodlands > Boon Lay > Bedok > Changi Village
Bus captains driving this route can give up all hopes of meals, rest, and - most importantly - toilet breaks
.
Why have long routes when short or super express routes should be the way to go?

1 shift only drive that 1 trip [to and from] already tired enough. Such service, S-Shift also about the same as A/P. ![]()
Let's just roughly calculate by hours.
858 > 1 hour
178 > 1 hour
30 > 2 hours
9 > 1 hour
5 hours half trip![]()
SBST 53M
Bishan - Hougang St 21
forget e mergers pls! Think for e passengers n BCs! Anyway, my suggestion that i thought:
On weekdays, 0700 to 1000, CT8 and CT18 upon exiting CTE, will head to Shenton Way Ter. via Shenton Way instead of New Bridge Rd.
Routes bef CTE remains unchanged and these svcs will call upon all stops along Shenton Way. It is a 1-way svc n passengers will be charged e original fares based on current CT routes. Feq: 20-30 mins
short routes are there to cater the pax. due to certain portions of route requiring a certain bulk of pax. it is not ideal for merging.
there is need for more short routes rather than merging short routes to have more long routes.
bc prefer shorter routes too. but not too short (e.g 284 and 354) hahah.
