Yup. Forgotten about the maps with As to Ds. It all depends on the size of the street directories that you are having. Look for the map scale that is specified at the top or bottom of the map.
Just a note, all this calculation of fare stages are just merely approximations. Fare stages DO NOT give a good indication of the time taken to complete the whole journey but they give good indication of the distance from point to point.
Longer distance translates to higher fuel costs and thus demand for the service must be really there to make the service economically viable.
For example, taking sbs 8104h 140 route suggestion from Braddell Bus Pk to Changi Airport,
i take bus 73 as a reference from Braddell Rd B07 just besides the SBS bus depot. It takes 1.5 fare stage to go to Lor 6 Toa Payoh B11 outside Blk 1.
Next, I take svc 59 as a reference. It takes 3 fare stages from Lor 6 Toa Payoh B11 to Lor 6 Toa Payoh B02A Toa Payoh Swimming Cplx. However, 59 uses Lor 1 Toa Payoh while the suggested route uses Lor 1 then Lor 2 then Lor 6 which is shorter than 59 by 1 bus stop. Distance between the two bus stops is approximately 400 metres which is 0.5 fare stages.
So, it takes 2.5 fare stages.
