i've been taking public the past week(my brother had an accident with the car, thanks) & realise that amendments need to be made w/ changing patterns in passenger movements of the NTU community. and i dont know what my students' union is doing(they're probably happily staying in their hall)

AM peak remains. I believe we understand we need to go to Boon Lay Int as it is spacious & a proper queueing system can be achieved there as we board 179A. a trainload in the AM peak pumps about 80 people into the 179A queue. so if a train comes every 2-3mins, u do the maths.

for the PM peak, it is observed that more now wants to get to Pioneer MRT station instead. now, 179A to boon lay int runs not even half full. yday for example, 2 179s were packed to the door & when a 179A came, many resorted to taking it & taking the train to joo koon frm boon lay & bounce back.

we can fully establish that many just want to get to the train station and board the train.

knowing this, i would propose the PM peak of 179A to be amended as follows.

NTU non-stop Pioneer MRT

the BC may do 2 or 3 179A trips during the PM peak before going to Boon Lay Int for break.

benefits :

NTU community saves travelling time
free up alighting berth at BNL Int
i believe it would just be simpler for everyone involved honestly

To Yew Tee not bad. But... by amending the service to serve NTU. It will convenience those going to Choa Chu Kang and Boon Lay. A lot of commuters take 172 from Choa Chu Kang and Boon Lay instead of the MRT. And also NSFs who need to travel between Boon Lay and Old Choa Chu Kang Road.

Not much longer what... Going thru Nanyang only about 5 to 10 min more... Yields will definitely be higher(bringing in student pax from CCK and CCK areas...) too.

loads will definitely be higher. however i cannot be sure if jw st 81 82 75 64 can ue bendys. This can definitely steal demand from 243 though.

5-10 minutes for off peak. Peak hour i guess it will take 20 mins extra. There will be extra people boarding and alighting the bus.

And I guess the former demand would drop.

Just like 187. A trip from Boon Lay to Bukit Panjang takes 1 hour during off peak but takes 1 hour 30 mins during peak hours.

Hey this gave me an idea... Instead of both 501 and 502 terminating and beginning from SLDepot, why not 501 start and end its rounds at NTU?
