Yishun St 61?

It is.
And don't be surprised at the load - this is after all an SBS Transit bus route in an SMRT area with practically no trunk bus routes into the city and with crowded feeders to crowded MRT stations run by SMRT.

If the demand is too high SBST would have used a DD by now.

SBST might end up having a open top double deck after using a dd in yishun.

I know that DD cannot enter Yishun Int, but at least SBST could think of a way to use a DD for Premium 559 which does not enter Yishun Int for Service. The DD can park somewhere else of something. Anyway, my contribution for today:

Kope from Yio Chu Kang service which already has to provide buses for 2 premium services.

Maybe can get the crossover DD from Service 70 which currently does not do any Premium crossovers from Yio Chu Kang Terminal.

Qi sin. 70 needs more bus, don't remove any more bus from 70.

25 seems to be a very good candidate.

I'm not sure about the loading or sv161, 168 in the morning. But they could be the alternative for that x-over. If not, they could deploy 2 buses for sv559 to cope with the demand, if there's really too high for 1 SD to handle.
You can grab the double-deck buses from any other routes, you can avoid having it lay over at Yishun Interchange, but there's still one big problem.
Have anyone of you seen the trees along some of Yishun's roads (especially Yishun Street 61)? Those trees are so low and so near to the road I can't really imagine a double-deck bus go through them - unless the trees go through heavy pruning or are removed altogether - and removing them is not going to sit well with nature lovers (such as myself), as well as people who will complain the loss of tree shade.
Yishun wasn't really designed to be double-deck bus friendly - and it's not just the bus interchange, but virtually the whole new town.

Now, with RP opening it's doors for another semester, the demand for Sv 161, 168 is quite high. There are people in Bedok, hougang and Tampines working in Woodlands. Most trips are fully packed to the door for SDs serving both routes. That's why Sv 161 and 168 have full DD fleets (except for the lone strider on 161). The demand is there every single day of the week.
I suggest Sv 161 and Sv 168 not to x-over to sv 559, unless SBS would want to add another trip for 559 or fleet addition to cater to this 'proposed x-over'.

Yah, thats exactly what i meant... most of the yishun streets have pretty low trees...
They better not go cut trees just for 1 bus every morning which passes by the area... i'd rather have my shade and fresh air compared to a seat on the premium serivce.

Really do not know what you are talking about. From your reply, it seem like that you are saying SBST will do the crossover on Sv 559 from Sv 161/168, by removing one trip from HG/Bedok in the morning peak hour? Dun you think it is a waste of fuel, if one Sv 168 bus is going to travel all the way from Bedok to Yishun for Premium 559?
We are talking abt taking one bus out of Sv 161/168 from WDL interchange. It is nearer also. I think we can take one trip out of sv 161 from WDL at 8am to do the crossover to Sv 559. You can see a lot of empty seats on those Sv 161 DDs starting from WDL at around 8am.

Yes! That was what I was thinking too! ![]()
But something got to be done to the trees especially @ St 61, the others along its route seems fine to me. One way that it can actually avoid the trees is to travel nearer to the centre of the road (Not halfway between the opposition lanes) but somewhere along the edge because the width of St 61 is actually much wider than most normal roads so as to allow cars to overtake buses when they stop @ bus stops.
I just got reminded... the Epson DD entered CCHY before. Means it cleared St 61 somehow.

Take 1 bus out from WRI, off service to do 559, then after reaching Fullerton, off service to Hougang/Bedok. (=

xover from where?
Originally posted by service_238:xover from where?
There's no x-over for Sv588 if I remember. The BC takes bus out from AMDEP and starts the service straight. Timesheet used should be 588AM01, can't remember.
