so 8030L should go BR than SL?
I didn't really say that 8030L go to BRBP. It still can be at SLBP in its good condition if only SLBP willing to fork out the expenses of maintaining the bus and tune it at least in a standard manner like the way how HGDEP treated their buses, although I understand that different depots have their own way of maintaining their buses.
this bus is going BRBP quite often..

I dun think they would do any better. There is reason why it is tune that way..
they tried to save fuel by tuning it that way
and they're wasting money by having the bus breakdown every so often and then they have to fix it.

Always must schedule to go that place for maintenance.

basically slbp doesnt have the chops to maintain 8030L.
SBS8030L sounds more like Scania K230UB with "improved" version.
I wonder.
Look at the Tridents' conditions.
Let's not talk about the Dennis made stuff.
I just took 9689E, and the Voith cannot engage 3rd gear and the trident was basically languishing on TPE at 40-50km/h at high rpms. Considering that Voith is considered to be rather reliable, and that the only other time I've seen a spoilt Voith was years ago, compared to other types where malfunctions are more common, how is it possible to constantly draw the same blinkered conclusion from just about anything?
I'm not saying HGDEP is terrible at maintenance. But what makes you think SLBP is doing a terrible job with 8030L?
Nobody is going to say anything about the general state of the tridents? The aircon? The EDS? Even "simple stuff" like the tail-lights? Are such stuff that hard to maintain without the excuse of them being "uniquely Dennis-made"?
the buses need to belong in depots that can take care of them and that's that. it's not about how lousy slbp is or how good hgdep is.
it's about how much a particular depot cares about a certain type of bus or buses.

The Tridents need a overhaul. Even the exit doors are kinda 'loose' these days

This is most probably not a depot-level problem.
It has to do with the management, funds, etc etc.
It is simply not in the interest of the depot to not push for their buses to be in better condition.
There's more than meets the eye.

SBS9686M and SBS9672C came out from laid-up statuses.Think they should have undergone some 'minor refurbishment and minor overhaul' during their laid-up period.

that's the point. back in sbs days this wouldn't happen.
now we have the extremes. good buses that are really good and lousy buses that are really lousy

But Tridents are very good buses, one of my favourites on the road. They should really maintain it.
Cheers.

the way they 'maintain' them, they're one of the lousiest.

Then they should invest on maintaining it IMHO.
Cheers.

Nah...best is let it languish, in all practicality. Maybe that's the status quo the higher-ups have in mind....run the tridents till they can't run.

From the way the tridents are maintained, the intentions, or the lack of, is quite evident.
If the management has the will to do it, it would. If it can't care less for a small proportion of 20 units, then it won't.
Frankly speaking, it makes little sense to divert the much-needed funds to do up the tridents when it can be used for the other types, and probably less per unit too, considering their numbers.

So what's the best way to wake the management up by telling them that to take note of these 20 units out of their 3000 odd units?![]()
Cheers.
There are always stupid comments ard. Some of them just follow blindly.
