Now for something a little unusual and different. Here is a recording of ex-Riverton Bus Service No. 9, ex-Metropolitan (Perth) Passenger Transport Trust (MTT) No. 34 which is a 1958 Leyland Royal Tiger Worldmaster with Howard Porter bodywork and 4-speed Wilson pneumocyclic transmission.

ooh. so at where and at how much did u get it for? feel like investing for a camera and a recorder. currently using my phone recorder for both bus and train recordings.

the recorder not cheap ($78 at Sony Wisma - most shops don't carry this by the way), and the output is 3.5mm jack (same as earphone and headphone jacks) so you need a machine that can accept this input (MD recorder, laptop etc but not Nokia phones with 3.5mm jack like N78/N81/N91).

hmm...no wonder. maybe i shud try out with my new phone that i would be getting quite soon. see if that will be better than my current phone or not.

For those who want to record sounds, here is some advice.
- Sit somewhere around the rear driving axle (for rear-engined buses) or towards the centre of the bus (mid-engined buses). This will ensure that you record a good mix of transmission and engine noises.
- Hold the recorder preferably in the aisle between the seats but if that's not possible, at least hold it so that seats and other fittings do not block/reflect sounds in an unwanted fashion.
- Avoid buses with bad wind draughts, open doors/windows/roof hatches, or loud airconditioning systems.
- Avoid peak periods and busy bus routes due to the likelihood of "talkers".
- This is important for those with MD recorders: manually set the recording volume to a low level. Otherwise you might end up with a digitally "cropped" recording, where loud noises become distorted. Many MD recorders have an "AUTO" volume setting which can totally ruin a recording by randomly varying the recording volume level. AVOID!
- Do not move a muscle during recording and make sure your phone is turned off. The Sony ECM-DS70P is an extremely sensitive microphone that will pick up the slightest of noises.

SBS2739R is quite nice to me but SBS2719Z is quite horrible (vibrates when idle). For a good sounding DM3500 I would recommend SBS2712S, SBS2699Y or SBS2723K. -
