Hi everybody, I am back.
Wonder why SBS choose DMs instead of the striders for JB routes. The 3 speed Voith gearboxes in DM cannot provide the fast acceleration required in JB roads, which is already experience in the current MK3. They should use the Striders with ZF500HP instead.

SBST did not choose the DMs for 160/170 upgrade. It was the DM3500s. Get your facts right. Also, our Striders have a ZF4HP500 and not a ZF 5 speed.

what SBS9888Y means is, 124C's ad contract has expired. once it expires, the bus can be redeployed and its ads can be removed anytime.

start-stop operations?

Isn't DM3500 a DM product? You get what I mean? If you don't get what I mean, then I'm simply trying to tell you not to be so specific about things, especially when the comments he made are basically correct.

its effective monday. 124C ad expire =/= ad gone. 3914U's bears the same expired ad and has been removed.
almost everytime similar ads expire at the same time and not all are removed immediately together.
okay, i saw 8409D has the perm 157 sticker, and my question to you is since you feel 124C is still perm, which bus is out then?

Get your reading right first.
He said ZF500HP, not ZF5.

what rego do u actually mean
Suspect:-
CSS185P
(WLDEP 852
WLDEP SP)
Not reflected in the roster in YIBP, could be fleet reduction of 1 S-shift during school holidays. May need to verify again when school reopens.

Those ex-AMDEP/KJDEP MB0405s are meant to replace the Nissan UDs in WLDEP anyway
.
Don't forget WLDEP still got to replace another 14 Nissan UD fleets (13 from service 178, 1 from service 981).

I think he meant the duration between engine being turned on and off ba, cause got jams, got long routes etc.
SBST choose DM3500 likely because of the lifespan issue - no need after a few years change buses again and refit them for JB entry. Looking at the current fleet now, the DM3500 are the only single deck that's in large numbers not facing lifespan expiry in 3 years or so. Quite abit of hassle. Volvo is still used because it's proven itself on the cross border route (lol), and the only type that has substantial spare parts from the other MK IIIs and IV DM+Strider.

Think he meant that the buses don't stop at bus stops as frequently as other services, either due to bus stop seperation, or due to the fact that there are stretches without much demand, hence skipping a lot of bus stops.
Anyway, why not SBST chose striders. Striders have got emergency exit. I thought M'sia requires buses to have emergency exits. They don't accept buses with the hammer and window exit. Not sure if this ruling has changed. It would be funny seeing DM3500 with emergency exits.

What you said is true, 160/170 do not call at JB bus stops after they depart from their respective terminals. How come I did not think of that.
In this aspect, the DMs may be adequate. However, SBS will have to remove the 60km/h speed limiter as the DMs will have to ply on the M'sia federal highways, which stipulates minimum 80km/h.
The 3 speed Voith gearbox, which is the same as the one used in MK3, is adequate to hit 85km/h @ 2300rpm.
