Hi folks
Yet another season of cool things happening in town. As we all know race days are 26 till 28 Sep So expect some bus diversions.
We'll know more about the diversions once the media releases are up.
Definitely the advice for those going to town on 20 sep to 30 sep (based on these LTA handouts at bus int), shd take MRT to town and avoid driving.
I reckon we could snap very interesting location shots of svcs affected by the diversion in town.
I am hopeful that 196 get diverted to raffles Hotel there and i get a nice shot of the bus with raffles hotel in backgrund lol

From the maps there seems to be several places of contra-flow traffic and nice diversions...
There is even a section of the time where vehicles will divert to run on the race track in front of the floating platform (NDP venue) at Marina Bay.
23-28 September 0500 am to 0900 am.
The only thing that struck me was, the bus-bridging shuttle service between MRT stations comes at 10-12 minute frequencies.
That's much like waiting for a public bus above anything else.
MRT waiting times are on general, 7 minutes, and yet bus bridging service requires you to wait 12 minutes long?
Something doesn't make sense here...
Oh and, what company is doing the service? Is it SBST, SMRT or CDGE? Thanks.

u want to take which 196 bus.....maybe 2724 H is a good choice
This is what I heard from Sv 107 BC lol
Sv 107 and 107M will turn right at Middle Rd(from Beach Rd) and will turn left at either North Bridge Rd or Victoria St
Sv 107M will loop at City Hall Area
Will double check again...
If they want the bridging services to be more frequent, they need to divert all routes to Bugis/City Hall for efficient transfer to the bridging service.
This way only the bridging service is available at Suntec City.

But do you get free rides on MRT ?
They are alrdy providing u with free shuttle service to Suntec CIty. If cant even wait for like 10mins, U can always choose not to wait and walk to Suntec City via CityLink.

I'd say thats true.. Probably the buses are there to alleviate the crowds. Can't imagine how packed trains would be... even with the shortened frequencies.

In the first place, SMRT should be providing a shorter freq even for now. They shouldnt just do it just because of the F1. Even if they are providing shorter freq, the trains are still very packed.
Anyway,
we are off-topic..

May i know where is the alternative site for Marina Center Terminal

All the NightOwls will start their trips from North Bridge Rd (outside CIty Hall MRT).
Originally posted by SBS n SMRT:May i know where is the alternative site for Marina Center Terminal
There is no alternative site.
Anyway, i foresee that all SMRT services will skip that area and loop at City Hall. LIke what they would usually do for National Day.
What about the Premiums, CItyshopper and Express 502 and 518?
There's a u-turn at Fullerton Rd next to the ERP gantry. the Premiums MAY not be affected at all.
Route diversions will probably follow that for NDP Padang road closure... MESSy... haiz
Anyway, i don't know what's happening at Marina Centre but all Marina Centre Services got notices on their buses already about the diversion. Saw these notices pasted on the bus windscreen.

From today onwards, Marina Centre Bus Terminal is CLOSED.
As SIMPLE As THAT.

I understand the diversion notice of SBST.
Dont understand a single thing from SMRT side.. Super messy.
SMRT's diversion is ad hoc, ie not closely followed, they move according to the traffic conditions, just like NDP rehearsals... SCs follow the inspector who tell them wat to do at the last bus stop... most SCs alite for crew rest, the prev SC will board n go off... some long haul routes juz off service n return to BB , YIS int
