for me bus spotting is:
1. Spotting and taking down cameos rare or common
2.Spotting ad changes
3. Compeleting Fleets
4. Maybe taking some photos
5. Posting long list of cameos:) -

Mine style:
1) Taking any bus services or ride the MRT down to any bus interchanges (of my choice) and take down bus cameos esp. in SMRT areas, whereby there ae plenty of it (You would see some of my SMRT bus spottings are carried out in the evenings).
2) Collecting bus tickets for the day, whether cameo or perm, it doesn't matter anyway.
3) Taking pics of buses (when there is a necessity or my free time)
4) On any occasions (be it outing with my family, etc) , take down bus cameos along the way at the same time.
5) Using my HP to note down today's cameos and bus ads spottings -

For example, if you have a bus concession pass, all bus rides on BASIC services are free. Stored value is deducted if you take any premium services (e.g. cityshopper), express, ffw, etc, and the train.

It actually means that we (or rather i) would try to spot bus without having any prior knowledge of where the bus is. Try to spot the bus at 1 location while waiting for the bus (ur target) to appear. Sad to say, this old-school way of bus spotting is no longer being popular anyway. People are always relying too much on technology these days. Although this is the most time-wasting way of spotting a bus but the joy or satisfaction at the end of the day is at its best.Honestly i agree with you,i waited for a Trident on 89 for 2+ hrs.Peak hour too.But technology can help a little:)
