Like what you said - September School Holidays. School holiday traffic is not as much as normal Weekday traffic because there's definitely people who take leave to spend time with their children during the holidays, or even drive up to Malaysia.
I got on a ride on Premium 534, it was during Sept Hols too, it was like 0835. Heavy traffic only, no jam. Actually all depends on the time you pass by.
I had taken full trip of KPE part 1 before, the newly opened part haven yet
Actually after the tunnel you can whack 100 already. Doesnt make any sense to travel 79 above ground.
Drove through it yesterday and today. I went from the entrance all the way from ECP till I reach the end at TPE. A very great short cut. I believe it will reduce the traffic on the TPE & CTE greatly. Let's see as the first weekday is tomorrow. But on the other hand, the ERP may not do much to relieve the traffic.
Great for North East residents who are driving to City Area. Lets hope CTE will not get so jammed with the help of KPE.

The ERP arent switched on yet...no?
Anyway my biggest concern is that the KPE merges into the ECP before reaching the city. I bet that will become the ultimate bottleneck every weekday morning, and potentially led to jams streatching keep into the tunnel!

yupp :'(
SMRT has bulletin at interchange warning off service bus captains not to drive into KPE. Does not state whether there are exception ie. Bendy buses.
But KPE is a good choice for many off service vehicles especially city to HG or similar.

Wonder why is that so for SMRT... If normal 12m buses (not public bus) can travel on KPE, why not SMRT buses?

Probably because the OCC will lose position of the bus? GPS dosent work underground.

Then why does some Services like 815 and Premium 565 use the underground CTE if OCC will not be able to track the location of the bus?

Because they have been explicitly routed to do so? This question is almost the equlivant of asking: "Why does 27, 34, 36, 53...,858 go to Changi Airport since OCC will not be able to track the bus."

IN the 1st place, not all SMRT bus have GPS installed on them..
lols..
Theres a few models that the OCC cant track them down.
