A few days back, I took bus no. 168 from woodlands interchange toward bedok interchange. The bus broke down on the highway. It was fine since buses sometimes does that. But what made it more unpleasant is that we(the passengers) do not know what was going on. By the way, there were only a few of us there.
The bus driver, a china national could not communcate with us! I don't mind if the garmen wanna hire foreign workers. But at least, can't they train them to speak simple english first before deploying them for work here! At least there won't be any communication breakdown! And that china bus driver, not just him, but those China PRs, can't they be more aware of their surroundings that non-chinese can't understand mandarin?!
do you still rmb wad's the registration plate number of the bus?

SBST have Malaysian BCs since you were born.
I was at CDC this afternoon. Saw many people in SBST polo tee queueing up to go to the BTT room. About half of them are china-chinese, but I saw quite a few indians too. I guess we will see this BCs on the roads soon.

i thought they were out alr? just that SMRT employs more.
but honestly, i find their service better than local BC. they are more punctual etc.
not even a single chinese on the bus?

Sincerely, some of them drive quite fast and quite fierce.
The local drivers, especially some malays would take things easy and play safe. From my rides on Sv 980, i would always see a female chinese BC driving everytime i go to the Victoria Street Library every monday. She drives quite ok and she have the tendency of horning her bus horn at people at the bus stop to alert them whether they want to flag for her bus or not.
Luckily it was a Dennis Lance, a bus that has a funny, but soft horn. Wonder if it were to be her driving a KUB, a bus famous for it's 'bull horn'. :(
For SMRT China BCs, i realised that there is a trend where they would never put up their rear destos but put the rear desto on the windscreen. This happens, especially for WLDEP ones. Good example is Sv 178 where almost half of the day's fleet do not have their rear destos shown at the rear of the bus, especially UDs.
Recruiting chinese BCs all have their pros and cons though.

the 178 and 852 SLs know that they are driving UD with such tiny EDS which could hardly be seen by most people from far. putting the rear desto at the windscreen allows people to see a little more easier...

but seriously, don't you prefer faster buses?
i think that the speed of our public buses are too slow, due to the many stops. (bus stops and traffic lights)
some bus can be late by as much as 20 mins depending on the traffic conditions. there are relatively emptier stretches of roads, but when the bus is alr running late, it is kinda of pointless to insist at continue running at 60km/h

of cuz when the BCs/SLs are late, they tend to drive faster to catch up with the timings as stated on their timesheets, however, some buses are limited to 60km/h due to the active speed limiter.

Not really all chinese BCs put their rear desto in front, I've seen some other BCs did that too. I've got a pix of CSS191X on sv852 drive by Indian BC with the rear desto at the front.
OT: Do you know how to use Shift+Enter? Or just press Enter ONCE?

I felt that the unnessary line breaks maybe caused by IE6 format as i had tried using IE6 to post on this forum and that occurs, either press Shift+Enter or upgrade to IE7 or firefox 3.0.1 is nice
