Which bus services need improvement?

I feel sv 980's being neglected by SMRT, juz 2day 3 old n creepy nissan buses on sv 980 despite big crowd during peak hrs. Worse till sv 167 got a TIB970H cameo. As if SMRT wanna pamper other svcs with better n new buses n simply dumped all the old buses only on a particular sv 980 instead.
In fact I ve been looking forward 2 see those new SMB buses on sv 980 along Upp Thomson Rd. However I was really pissed off wif SMRT tat they still like 2 dump those old buses on this svc instead.

I agree with you. SMRT should have introduced more new buses to enter Sembawang new town as well as other areas like Yishun and CCK. Sembawang area had always been neglected all the while, not only in the bus deployments (especially service 980) but also in the direct connectivity to other areas as well. In fact it is really an eyesore that other downtown bound services are getting occasional Merc OC500LE deployments but service 980 being left out and worse till massive Nissan deployments instead.Notice that bus services like 172 started getting get Merc OC500LEs though it passes by certain "ulu" areas. Saw one of them today.
Anyway hope that SMRT phase out all their Nissan UD buses soon once more new Merc OC500LEs are put onto the roads.

Service 888 - New Service towards Bukit Batok via Bukit Panjang
Service 889 - New Service towards Harborfront via Orchard Road
Bus services in Sembawang should be perfect with all these. =) -

In fact SMRT should deploy SMBs on service 980 during weekdays. For Sundays still stick to the usual bendy deployments. -

Yesterday was on 851, 67 SMB was in front...stood at the bus stop for around 5 minutes (so imagine the crushload..)...didn't manage to see the load though because 851 was also crushloaded too.

I call them Freaky Old Buses
.But anyway, route 980 is seriously in need of improvement. I ride this route regularly, and it's God-awful when you have to try and squeeze into a crush-loaded (and it's crush-crowded from front door to rear, not just around the front of the bus); sometimes, there are times when the bus doesn't even bother about you. >>
The solution, I think, is not more buses, but a new bus route to compliment route 980; I have been thinking of a new bus route that runs from Queen Street terminal, down the entire stretch of Little India, gets onto Jalan Toa Payoh, then onto Thomson Road and Upper Thomson Roads, before heading down to Yishun.

In fact service 980's fleet make up of 10 Lances and 1 Merc Volgren, plus 2 Scanias from WLDEP. There are no Nissan UD perms currently, just that AMDEP always likes to deploy Nissan UD cameos on service 980 regularly. -

Service 32 will be FAC fleet by end of this year after the last NAC Scania N113CRB (SBS3638S) goes off. Who knows, BNDEP may deploy Scania K230UBs on service 32 soon. -
