Well... such incident also happened on me once.
After hearing the news that SMRT was employing a few hundred Chinese nationals to spruce up the bus frequencies, I was relieved and at the same time worried. Relieved that we might not need to wait for sun to set before the next bus arrives. Worried that they might be reckless or inattentive. However, I chose to ignore the latter, hoping that they would change our conventional mindset about them once they arrive to Singapore to undergo a strict yet extensive and holistic training.
Boy.. I was so wrong about that ....
I was at the bus-stop opp Jurong East regional library when I saw Service 178, driven by a Chinese national, approaching. Curious to see how the Chinese driver conducts himself, I boarded the bus (as the bus also goes to my destination) and realized that the bus-driver was talking non-stop to his friend sitting right behind him, in an undeniable 'China' accent. As a result, although I pressed the bell early enough for him to stop the bus in time, he continued his bus journey and stopped only when he saw some people flagging for the bus.
I was flabbergasted and considering that it's my first time boarding a bus driven by a Chinese national, that's certainly not a good impression he has left on me. Luckily, although he stopped 2 bus-stops ahead of my original alighting stop, the distance wasn't too far and I managed to walk back. It's a pity that I didn't take note of the bus number plate 'cos at that moment, I was overwhelmed with shock. Such an incident has never happened on me before and my first encounter with a Chinese driver turns out to be a nightmare already.....
I guess all passengers, including myself, who had their alighting stops skipped, would raise doubts about their effectiveness and efficiency. Hence, I feel it's important that the main operators (SMRT and SBST) strike a balance between securing a sizeable manpower to improve its bus frequency and maintaining its quality of service. Looks like both operators have stg to work on to gain back the public's confidence by leaps and bounds.

Actually, I rmb very clearly that more than 1 person pressed the bell. But apparently once the first person pressed the bell, subsequent bell rings cannot be heard already.
I don't know why. Therefore, the bus-driver ignored the flashing of the "Bus-Stopping" sign in the bus and continued his bus journey, while being engrossed in his chit-chat with his friend sitting right behind him. He stopped the bus only when he saw passengers flagging for the bus at the bus-stop.
That's certainly terrible even if I consider him as a first timer on the job because the problems lie in his attitude in working, something that our main operators cannot keep a constant supervision on, everytime they deploy new drivers on the road.

Looks like I have to make a short disclaimer here.
I understand that there might be some Chinese nationals in our community reading this forum and hence, those comments under 'lianamaster' heading were made solely by lianamaster and are not representative of all the viewpoints made by netizens around.
I don't mean to say that all chinese drivers are no good. It is because such unfaithful incident occured on me, hence, I would like to just make a comment. Please don't get me wrong here... I am sure that majority of bus-drivers are able to comply to the stringent standards set by our main transport operators.
Sincere apologies if any of my comments has offended anyone.

Sorry.. I didn't mean that... Guess that was too provocative a statement. Will definitely board the buses as normal.. but will still keep a constant lookout for any driver who fails to do his/her job. Hehe...

Happen almost in every department which employ them.Even if you complain to the top management also would be not much help.Boss always say Low salary somemore 2 years contract what do you expect? With our dear Gahmen strngthen the ties with China there's nothing much we could do seriously.Once a Chinaman says that im from Malaysia or Indonesia. When i told him that im a Singaporean he wouldnt believe and says that Malays here all come from Malaysia. When i show him my IC he just says that the Gahmen granted me Pink IC as i work and sleep here,Nabeh not only arrogant but racist too.For now my company are bringing in Myanmar workers over the Chinaman whom contract has ended. Can vomit blood work with them seriously.Only a handful can adapt to our style here.
PS:I'm not a racist nor starting a flame war here but its the fact that almost Singaporean face.

Luckily, I'm not a person who loves to complain. I just take it in my stride. Just tell myself that tomorrow will be a better day and yesterday was history.
No point swearing to everyone how terrible your experience was when at the end, your complaint remains largely unresolved. Relax and live life to your fullest man!
this is life, get used to it !

Get the fact right that he is driving along 1st or 2nd lane. If you really meant 2nd lane, i believe he is correct.
