1. If Japan can do it, why can't we? It's the people.
2. See above.
3. That i dunno, but it'd wouldn't be wise to revamp the entire carriage on the cost side. But heck, they can probably do a trial like what they're doing...suggest it to them :).
4. See 1. Also, every 90 seconds per train is already increased, any more, we'll probably have accidents. They're already maxing out the track capacity (as we can see with trains stopping in between stations during peak hours, or just queuing up behind another train at the station), we don't have a side rail that runs parallel where we can have express trains that bypasses certain stations or can overtake a current train.
5. See 1.
it is time they design trains with doors like shutters.
we can then scrap the phrase 'move in' from train terminology.
what are they even thinking in the first place.

they should just remove the trains and replace the whole mrt track with a travellator moving at high speed. can cram lots of people in, no need to wait for a train to come, just hop on. max profit liao smrt -.-

Just like the travelator at Dhoby Ghaut station. ![]()
take away seats huh, squeeze as many people as possible into the train huh like Japan lor. But crimes eg molest will increase too lor. Passengers will breath at one another face lor. ![]()
i got a feeling that most of de services will be withdrawn after having so many lines...after CCL,downtown line coming up...it think having it;s seats taken out ,has good and bad points good point, ppl can squeeze in more, bad point, you may have to stand for de entire trip..

Haha, some futurists in the 1960's and 1970's were actually thinking of that idea, where cities could have a massive network of travellators with seats all over the place in place of a metro network.

Those people selling portable seats will have a roaring trade.

even if they remove the seats, profits won't increase by much but only increases the passenger load of the trains and decrease the overall waiting time for the next train for passengers who cannot get into the trains.

there are already few who chose to stand in the trains though there are still vacant seats. so its just personal decision. besides, not all seats are removed, so just move to the next few carriages until you find a seat, unless the train is really crowded.
