882.........like that SMRTs first WAB service lor....
if 882 wanna become WAB service, not sure whether all the bus stops along the route are PIW accessible or not...
Originally posted by TIB1224Y:Now these OC buses are not certified WAB. LTA/PTC had also required bus operators to bring in wheelchair accessible buses (WAB) from a few years back.
Think about it this way, if the bus operators are only allowed to bring in WAB vehicles, then it would not matter which service they put on or whether the interchange/terminal is friendly to the wheelchair bound persons. They have shortage of bus, they would use it. Its either they would have to change the infrastructure, or they give up their license and do something else.
So, when a OC is assigned to run on 925 or just about any WRI bound services, I would not find it surprising, and so to speak, there is not much of a choice either. One day these buses are not 'wheelchair accessible certified' and carry the sticker, one day that it would still remain as a normal bus...
Just like SBST. No sticker, then its up to the driver to allow PIW to board.
I think SMRT may wish to convinence LTA to built a lift in WRI. Or else no OC500LE would ply woodlands route group WAB services comfortably.

OC on sv531 twds Shenton Way at around 0831hrs++ twds Shenton Way
Just last week, I was disbelieving the claims that Mercedes OC500LEs were being deployed on route 167; a few days ago, while walking to Sembawang Interchange to catch that route, I saw - to my complete, utter, shocking disbelief - a shiny new Mercedes OC500LE sitting right there in the parking bay. It went towards the boarding area as I was walking there, and, on it's LED, the route number 167.
...
I now believe you, Mr. TinTinSpartan.
p.s. TinTinSpartan, were you the same person in the Sembawang Secondary School uniform who took the same bus, sat at the granny seat in front, and peeked at the side left turn signal before boarding it? I was that person in white wearing a scarf.

The starter can drag them to other slots so long as the buses are doing the service it's allocated to.
