Earlier DM3500s have, later ones don't have. 9810X and 9849K "born" without them. 2 of 9889U's were removed before service, and it has none now.

No matter the DM3500s earlier have or later, all its fleets had their rim guards removed alrdy. All B9TLs and even KUBs also "born" w/o rim guards too. -

Because rim guards hinder the work of the maintainience crew. If the KUBs have rim guards it'll look more "MAN" le (pun intended). -

You sure this is a drawing of the Mercedes MB O405G Volgren (ex-SBS 999U)? It looks more like the Volvo B10M-A to me - the Mercedes had much wider windows than this.

Think they used the same template of the B10M to draw the O405G.Btw, SBS999U is O405GN? The pic posted earlier by tamago says GN...which i remember is low floor and according to what i remember about 999U, it isnt.
