No
why is reverse parking not allowed for vso's?
Just 2 Questions for today.
Regarding Jumpbus for 36, how many bus does a bus captain jump at the Airport?
Referring to the KUBs, why do u need 6 gears when u are only travelling at 60km/h?

Fuel economy. KUBs do reach sixth gear before hitting the speed limiter.

Yeah, a low RPM 6th gear lol.

on average they jump bus every time they reach airport after a full route.

I feel that the same economy could be reached with a 5 speed Ecomat 2 (eg. ZF 5HP502C/592C) if its tuned properly... 6th speed, not only the RPM is at a very low state (900-1000) which is not too healthy for the engine in the long run, the grinding sound and vibration on some units may be uncomfortable for the occupants...
Past vehicles like the Volvo Olympian (6x2 double deck AC) have 5 speed gearboxes too, like the VOs in Citybus HK (and KMB/many other operators). The tuning is similar to local VOs, but they would reach speeds like 80 km/h comfortably on the 5th gear with RPM about 1500-1800. While local 4 speed VOs can reach the same speed only with 2200RPM, which is the governed limit (and helped by a bit of slope!). Those 5 speed gearboxes (ZF 5HP400/590) are mainly for speed, instead of fuel economy, in those times...
So it can be evident that a 5 speed gearbox is a 4 speed gearbox with one overdrive (gear ratio less than 1:1), and a 6 speed is a 4 speed with two overdrive gears. In fact most conventional automobile gearboxes in the world are 'born' with 4 speed basic and other gears are overdrive. Some Voith gearboxes are an exception, as they use the special DIWA technology and do not need that much of gears to gain momentum (but perhaps more fuel is needed in contrast!).
Erm, what i was trying to mean is like how many buses do they skip when they jumpbus. As in they drive the next bus when they jump or the bus after the next.

Anyone know about the Batch 2 E4 KUB
Denzo 'Bus Air Conditioner Warning Light' beside the BC?
Can anyone tell me more about this?
Cause I took SBS 8189 M and that warning light was on and some sound coming from it. BC ignores it...

Ok let's take service 142 as an example. There is 5 buses and 6 drivers on duty. So, the drivers will keep moving backwards. Like Bus 1 and Driver 1 reaches TPY. Driver 1 takes a rest. Then the Driver in front of Driver 1 will take Bus 1. When Bus 2 comes in with Driver 2, Driver 1 will take Bus 2 and Driver 2 takes a rest. In this motion, the drivers will constantly be moving behind one bus everytime.
What if it is like mealtime, drivers take a much longer time than their usual break? Then do they jump 2 or 3 bus?

An additional S or E shift will cover the mealbreak.

This is termed "relief crew" in jumpbus terminology.

Something like the relief crew in the avaiation world?

For 36, meal break = jump 2 bus. Normal trips jump 1 bus
For most services other than 36, drivers still jump 1 bus. Difference is that the bus takes a longer rest too! though shorter than the drivers' rest
