I think it is not viable to convert 177 to a full day (Up to 2000 hrs) service because it walk pass Bukit Gombak‘s MINDEF. There is a security policy when can a bus turn in. Unless, that is, a 177 Alternative road that does not enter MINDEF but to use Upp Bukit Timah Road until Hillview Road or something (The entrance that leads to Hillview with a traffic circle, something like mini Newton Circus).
Anyway, Basic service is just the bus fare got Children / Senoir Citizens rebated fare only.

Basic bus service is those which charge normal fare, those premium bus service refer to CT services, parks, etc

Don't think there is such a security policy, but the gate for the bus stop outside the pass office is only open during peak hours. I think the demand during off peak hours would be so low that it would not even justify the use of sprinters.

Erm, you are right, I was trying to say the gate. I suppose the neighbourhood school's back gate opens only certain time of the day right? It is a security policy to prevent strangers / treaspassers and student who jabo / zhao / skip lessons.
