Firstly, what does the word "cameo" really mean?
Secondly, why is it called cameo spotting?
Think about it and pls reply to my qn.

"cameo" in dictionary.com means:
Also called cameo role. a minor part played by a prominent performer in a single scene of a motion picture or a television play.
So "Cameo Spotting" means that we spot buses that appear on routes that they are not permanent on (for e.g. a permanent Svc 133 bus appears on Svc 161 may be considered a cameo)
1. What is a desto? Got pics?
2. What is a "demonstrator"? e.g. SBS8033D
3. How to see the roster / sticker on bus whether it is perm on what service?

1) desto aka Destination sign.

This desto says Training bus as the Bus Captain is under orientation.

The side and front desto shows Express 506 - Jurong East and the route details.

Note the 178 green plate, it's supposed to be for the rear but the Nissan Diesel's EDS (Electronic Destination [desto] sign is abit small] so the BC put it in front.
A typical Electronic destination sign used by SMRT showing route 172 with Boon Lay as the destination

A typical Electronic destination sign used by SBST showing route 81 with Tampines as the destination

Usually SBST uses Plastic desto, but starting from the K230UB they switched to EDS due to the height of the desto area. It's evident in the CNGs where the BCs need to climb using the driver's seat to place the desto.
2) Demonstrators

As its name implies, a demonstrator demonstrates the product by the company. Usually on a one year trial to the bus company, the company can evaluate the product and test the feasibility of the bus before deciding wether to procure more vehicles or just keep the demonstrator. SBS8033D demonstrates the K230UB bus by Scania and was successful, while SBS997A demonstrates the high load capacity of a 14.5m Superlong bus from Volvo and was not so successful after real world tests.
There are other types of demonstrators such as SBS9889U for the prototype CDGE bodywork later used for the B9TL (i believe so) or TIB1024H, where the Volgren bodywork was first fitted on the O405G chassis.

3) perm sticker
It's usually found at the driver's cabin. In the past the perm stickers are pasted above the driver's window although lately it has been pasted near the coinbox (behind the coinbox?). It states the perm service of the bus.
roster ar...no idea lol

Roster or you mean timesheet? Rosters are located at the interchanges. Some near the canteen, some near the toilet.
desto = Service plate
desto = destination plate
total = I catch no balls. Btw, who gave the nick desto first? ![]()

oo look below there
"TIB809S will supplement Premium 590 and Service 300 before going over to Service 970 during Weekdays only."

a pic of 809S on 975
809S had an accident at BKE with an unknown 190 bendy while serving Prem 590 quite a number of mornings ago. But I don't think the damage is substantial enough for it to be laid up.

Is the 2 Turf City buses , PA4696X & PA4697T scrapped? I went to the one motoring website & it says these 2 buses have been de-registered

road construstruction?
Is it likely that SBST will also refurbish the seat covers of the 2nd/3rd batch VO3x since they are using the same types of seats? although there's likely a problem for the parallel seats above the two rear axles since they are individual seats.
i find that the yellow covers are more comfortable than the PVC red colour seat.
not sure..
but they will chg e seat covers whenever they r too old or spolit..

Why SBS bought so few Denis Trident? Are the Dennis Trident ever based at other depots?

Perm sticker or "vandals(written numbers)" may not be correct at some times. Roster can be peeped onto the BC's timetable then got something like 1A, 2P sth lidday one, is beside a "chopped" number.
