IIRC, thought in K230. Brooms and dustpans are place in another cabinet next to the granny seat? Didnt see any brooms and dustpans in that cabinet.

Gt go ask SBST or LTA
by right the green + compartment is used to store the first aid box..
the + should be in red colour instead..

The "red" cross *redcross* thing is a copyright of the International Red Cross Organisation.
That is why now even ambulance don't have the red cross sign...
by rights, the red cross should have given them the permission to use it..
anyway its related to medical items..

there's an article in the Sunday Times yesterday complaining about SBST and SMRT new WAB buses. among the complaints from commuters are the steps leading to the rear and very few seats.
I've tried the WAB buses in Melbourne and noticed WAB pax enter and exit from the entrance doors. The front part of the bus can be lowered to level with the roadside kerb for WAB pax to enter and drop off without the driver's assistance! But still, there's steps leading to the rear. But I don't think their designs are applicable to sg context, as Melb bus ridership are lower than sg.
My suggestion is to design the similar types of layout as per older buses in sg. With a step in the front and exit doors again. This prob helps to increase seating capacity by utilising the area above the front tyres. I believe pax feel better with a step at the doors rather than steps in the middle aisle. Design a WAB ramp (prob longer than existing design) that can be manually placed from the top of the door step onto the roadside kerb.

Something like this?
At the crux of the problem is the "throwing all eggs in the same basket" problem.
We need WAB buses. But we don't need 100% WAB buses!
Of course I see advantages in 100% WAB. Admin stuff like cameos will be less of a headache.
I am ok with 100% WAB, and am willing to make sacrifices for the disabled. Why can't the others do the same?
Putting steps in front/middle/back don't help one bit. Just a few years ago, people were already compalining about the B10Ms and 0405s.
So what do you think is the problem here?
And there was a cuckoo who even mentioned on Straits Times placing the exit at the back of the bus. Just to solve the problem of people not moving you want to remove the engine as well?
I believe when those people who complain of steps in the front and rear exit doors of older buses, they expect the entire bus interior to be stepless which is impossible for a city bus design.
Older buses: with steps on both doors. With engines more well spread out underneath, the bus need not have any steps along the aisle; slope only. Also can accomodate more seats.
New WAB buses: stepless on both doors. But to compensate for accomodation of engines, the rear half of the bus got to be much higher and need to add in steps along the aisle.
If commuters were to know the costs and benefits of both types of buses? What would they prefer???
To try balance by adding a step to both doors, so that can add in more seats and avoid steps along the aisle? And designing a ramp that can be used to overcome the door steps?

Not really. Take a look at the Mercedes Citaro Interior. Front to last row of seats are stepless.
SMRT/SBST are only getting Low Entry buses. Entrance to exit door stepless....hm
Spotted a Scania KUB on Service 198 this morning at about 8:30am along Jurong Town Hall road in the direction of Boon Lay. I couldn't catch the bus rego though 'cos I was on another bus in the opposite direction...![]()

Service 198 already got 2 Scania K230UB perms from BBDEP starting this week, check the redeployments thread.
