  TP's favourite..... The black smoke is caused by excess fuel that cannot be burned completely. It could be due to faulty fuel pump, a leaky fuel injector or some engine problems....

  In short... time for some servicing....

  The WA Merc u saw is SBS83L.BTW,is this common among the svc 79 buses?i remember i took SBS390A on 79 one time and its engine was screaming really very loud throughout the whole journey to Boon Lay.as we were sitting at the rear,the heat increased more and more as the engine screamed more louder.it was actually quite scary.and the aircon wasnt working in full blast like those original Merc's freezing aircon.but a few months later,i saw SBS390A at Jurong East Int without the DBS ad and it was repainted.and i saw condensation everywhere on its windows.i thought that SLBP had finally repaired and refurbished SBS390A.but sadly,it was laid up soon after that and was deregistered on its lifespan expiry date.if SLBP had really repaired and refurbished SBS390A,then that is really a waste.

  I seen many buses having this prob.. Even some B9TL and VO got such problem. K230UB haven.

  SBS436C not seen on Sv 268 these few days. this bus was refurnished several months back,and have just been repainted few weeks back. maybe wait a few days for the LTA website to be officially updated. Not sure abt 424 though
