bukit timah jam this morning? luckily my lesson today starts in the afternoon
I take 74 to school almost everyday but at different timings. I can divide service 74 into 6 sections. Bukit Timah jam definitely play a huge role...
Section 1: Hougang Int to Ang Mo Kio MRT
This section takes about 35 to 40 minutes. Why so long? Coz every bus-stop also got passengers. If 165 enter from Ave 4 b4 74, passenger load is lower. About 40% of the crowd alight at Ang Mo Kio MRT.
Section 2: Ang Mo Kio MRT to Lornie Rd (Mount Alvernia Hosp)
This section will jam after 745am as amount of vehicles are high. If got jam, this section takes about 25 minutes, no jam 14 minutes. Before 745am 90% of the time no jam.
Section 3: Lornie Rd (Mount Alvernia Hosp) to Bukit Timah Rd (Coronation Plaza)
This section from 8am to 9am will jam, before and after will not. If jam, can be very serious. Highest record for jam here is about 30 minutes. After the opened an extra lane, jam reduced.
Section 4: Bukit Timah Rd (Coronation Plaza) to Bukit Timah Rd (King Albert Park)
Occasionally this section will jam, but only to the junction of Sixth Avenue. After that will be cleared.
Section 5: Bukit Timah Rd (King Albert Park) to Clementi Rd
This part confirm will jam. From the merging traffic from Jalan Anak Bukit and Bukit Timah Rd, confirm jam from NP all the way to the junction of Commonwealth Ave West.
Section 6: Clementi Rd to Holland Drive (Buona Vista Ter)
This section will not jam. Clear traffic.
Overall: Taking 74 to school can vary from 1 hour 10 minutes to 1 hour 40 minutes.

I'm agreeing to this.....
the breakdown is good....the jam points would be at the following roads:
- Junction of Ang Mo Kio Ave 3 & 8
- Marymount Road
- Adam Road Viaduct (From Mediacorp - Adam Rd Food Centre)
- Bukit Timah area....(Can Changed the location)
One time I took 74e...i was stuck at PIE and Between Upper Bukit Timah Rd & Clementi Rd.....45 mins trip to Ngee Ann!!!

I see.. I believe HGDEP is more efficient in this matter. I rmb once when there was a jam at the junction at CDGE, mainly traffic trying to turn right into CTE (City) from Braddell. It hog up all the lanes as there are drivers trying to cut in. It essentially blocked the buses from moving, or move very slowly. Services like 153, 105 , 93 and 28 affected.. HGDEP immediately send spare bus driven by standby from depot to interchange to fetch passengers at HG Int. I waited 30 minutes and did not see 1 153 turning in. End up when i reach Braddell Rd, looking from the other side, i saw 5 153s.. Maybe SLBP could do sth, did they?
Todae morning take the NP Shuttle bus from Tampines, from Bedok Reservoir all the way to exit PIE at Upp Bt Timah Road Exit the bus travelled at snail's pace... Epic long journey, bus departed TP Int at 7.45 a.m, reached NP at 9.15 a.m, the longest ever so far for me...

Ya.. Bnl did send ah.. SBS 8041E continue it's trip after coming back cos no BRBP bus came back.. If I nt wrong, the driver should be 63 mins out frm usual schedule.
Moreover, bnl would send some of it's buses which came back to start from the mid of journey to help out the 1st bus.
