A double-decker bus has overturned in Tseung Kwan O, killing a 17-year-old female passenger and injuring 35 other people on board. The 36-year-old driver of the bus was among the injured, and has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving causing death. The incident happened at around 20 minutes past midnight when the KMB bus no. 692 fell on its side while negotiating a roundabout near Tong Ming Court. The injured were taken to various hospitals, including Tseung Kwan O, United Christian and Queen Elizabeth. Four are said to be in serious condition. One of the passengers said the bus had been travelling quite fast when the accident occurred. |

SBS9583B on 74 broke down at Hougang Ave 8 Blk 436 bus stop at about 6.20pm. The BC keep revving the engine but the bus coud not move

TIB1244P (WLDEP 856) broke down at the entrance of Yishun Int, all EDSes were switched off; breakdown triangle placed at rear of the bus; front compartment was opened & 3 mechanics were seen attending to the problem.

N293 order 692. Works like our NR services. Driver takes bus out and runs one normal service then goes over to N service.

The Secretary for Transport, Eva Cheng, says local bus companies will improve their monitoring systems to ensure passenger safety. She was speaking after meeting representatives of the bus operators following the fatal KMB doube-decker crash in Tseung Kwan O early on Monday. One person died and 35 others were injured. Six people remain in critical condition. Ms Cheng said she'd asked the bus companies to improve staff awareness of safety issues. |

How such thing happen again? This is not the first time.
Did any of their bus install speed limiter like SBS Transit?

All franchised buses in Hong Kong have "speed limiter". Since the statutory speed limit for Hong Kong buses is 70km/h, the limit is usually set between 68 and 75.
But this is not the issue. Making a sharp turn at about 50km/h caused the incident.

A second passenger injured in the Tseung Kwan O bus crash has died. The 24-year-old woman had been at the Prince of Wales hospital since the accident early on Monday, when a double-decker bus toppled over. Thirty-four other passengers were injured. Three remain in a critical condition |

Speed limiter is not the exact answer to kurb accidents.Its the driver's attitude which play the major part.A safety but skill driver who knows the limit of his vehicle and his limit can always prevent accident no matter how fast the vehicle is.
