EDS/Desto Plate Wrong

It appears that 950 buses like to identify themselves as 960s very often. Last time I reported a 950 bus having a 960 desto in front of the windscreen; today I saw TIB448A with "950 MARINA CENTRE" EDS

TIB1165J off svc, so SL key in codes, EDS showing: WOODLAND DESPO.
Should be WOODLAND'S', but the 'S' got mixed up. Lol.

TIB1189R off svc parking in WRI, but back EDS shows: 116.

lol TIB705H's EDS confirm get replaced in a couple of weeks if this happens many times.. I love this bus coz of strong A/C, no vibration & it was an ex-perm of 307!! :P

Today, after I gt down from my 307(SMB 40 U) at the bus stop near lot 1, I saw a 307E(SMB 41 S), first having the normal thing you put on a EDS, suddenly put to Merry Chirstmas and happy new year EDS, then flash back to normal again, then after that, flash to that abnormal EDS again and the patten repeat.....

I was like WTH, it's is nt even Chirstmas or new year yet....

The EDS system can display both message and route details at the same time if the message is chosen and code is keyed in.

me too, i was in that bus. Previously, when SMB89E did 925 yesterday, the EDS displayed 'Ez-Link Card Reader Not Working' when actually it does.

Several loop services also always display the wrong EDS. eg svc 36 to Orchard/Tomlinson Rd, but front EDS display to Changi Airport. same for svc 29, 162M etc etc. If its inconvenient to switch EDS midway, I rather they follow svc 15. "PASIR RIS - MARINE PARADE (LOOP SERVICE)"

i think its fine for these services to change their EDS details @ looping point. As i would prefer showing the destination solo. Instead of SV15 style.

Perhaps

For eg 162M can display:

Ang Mo Kio Ave 8/6
> Suntec City (Loop) 162M

Or without the word "Loop".

My classmate reported that he saw a Svc. 958 Merz in the customs a few days back

TIB520Z was displaying Svc 965 with 854 route details a few days back

TIB822C was displaying Svc 965 with "ENDS AT YISHUN INT/MRT"

I'm wondering whether with the current auto fare stage updating technology & GPS, whether is it possible to connect to the bus EDS, so that when it reach the loop point, the EDS can automatically switch? for eg svc 29. When its fare stage 1, the EDS automatically display >CHANGI VILLAGE. When the bus reach CV; by recognising the fare stage, the EDS automatically switch to >TAMPINES INT?

Probably possible since SMRT/TIBS has done it with those in-bus notifications.

But why bother? It's not like as if people don't know where the bus is heading to based on the direction of the road they're at :).

if that's the case, our bus operators need not bother to display the route details on the EDS anymore. Just the svc no. will do. probably this would help reduce the EDS from becoming faulty that often..
