It's stated in the ST today that Scania has put in a tender to supply Euro 5 buses to a big transport firm in singapore. Could this firm be SMRT ?

Doubt is SMRT. Don't forget SMRT's fleet is only about 800+. Buying 500 is more than half the original fleet. Unless they are planning of introducing many more routes, I don't see the reason why they need 500 more buses. In addition, not all the OCs have arrived. Only big transport firm left is SBS Transit. SBS Transit already bought 900 KUBs, of which around 400+(?) are Euro 5. They can't be buying another 500 Scanias after all the complains by commuters and BCs alike. So, the only possibility is ST used the wrong word.

Erm, no one said the "large transport firm" was tendering for 500 vehicles.
quote: "Mr Koh disclosed that Scania is in the process of completing a tender for a similar project. If the bid is successful, Scania will build and supply buses that carry the latest Euro-5 certification - an air pollution rating - to a large transport firm in Singapore." from Scania opens new $6m service centre in Senoko

For your info, the no one you are refering to is leewan. Look at the post above. And, I did not read the ST. In case you cannot find the post, I'll quote it for reference.

Ok. I accept that this is my mistake. But back to the topic, which company will be buying them? SMRT? I still doubt so

Honestly speaking, theres no much large transport firms than smrt other than comfort delgro bus. But if it is comfort delgro bus, they could have ordered them together with sbst for better discounts.
So the highest possibility would still be SMRT. Weird for them to buy small number of different vehicles at a time and creating a maintenance headache.

woodland transports? i think most likely it might be SBST. New Scania DDs? Since it is still in the tender process, so they did not mention that it is SBST.. i dun think SMRT want to buy Scania buses..

hey! are we seriously going off topic?
hello off-topic already.
this is support-MIC-bus thread.
I prefer SMRT buy YoungMan instead of Yutong
JNG6120 is better than ZK6118/ZK6128
JNP6120

Ya, super off topic. Support-MIC-bus thread? More like OMG-MIC-bus thread?
The Cheena bus had better arrive soon under WLDEP.
OT: Senoko? 856 pass by or not?

Question is: Since YoungMan uses NeoPlan technology, and the Centroliners in HK are unreliable, would they stand up to SG climate?
Centroliners in HK are unreliable because of hilly relief , The Centroliners are mainly service in NW new territories, they need to climb up and down the hills.
There are some bus ride videos on Centroliners in HK
Centroliners on 59M

This bus looks quite nice.in the first pic,is the bus fitted with a CNG unit?
What do u mean by JNG6120?is it the engine?
Originally posted by Raraken:Lets all make a guess. I guess it will come to SG early March, in service mid-late March.
And yes, still in China
I see.then it will take quite some time for this Yutong to come out in svc.
This demo might be similar case to SBS8033D e.g. clear window glass and one of a kind bodywork. If production units are produced, they'll be modified. hmm
