the demo is spotted at ntu today. around 6.35pm with temp rego plate, but it just zoomed past before i could snap a photo. looks much like the first post photo except with huge yutong logo.

nope. it's quite self-explanatory that when it's edited out, only you and me know what has been posted and that it should not be here...

2 weeks later, no news alr?
it's just china buses. not missiles. wonder why SMRT has to be so secretive about it. are they scared that when news leaks they will lose public confidence and their share prices will drop etc...

"No taking of photo on this bus
By order,
SMRT Management"

erm
it says on this bus, not of this bus.
From my interpretation, no photos of the interior when you are on this bus?
why cant take?
dont want people to know they evaluating and therefore have intention of buying a china bus?
social stigma? haha
Yutong Bus hope do come on services with carrys some good behavour student! Or else the seats back will have some vandalism...

Maybe it's a company strategy to purchase Yutong buses as an alternative to European made buses, as MIC buses are cheaper and Yutong has garnered several awards and recongnitions that gives local operators the confidence in purchasing Yutong buses. Therefore SMRT may not want the public to know the evaluation as of yet until it is on the demonstrator service. my guess.
even demonstrators will serve the public one day.
chinese saying goes "eventually ugly wife needs to see in-laws".
so what's the point of going so secretive? defects???

i believe company strategy is probably why SMRT wish to keep it under wraps.
FYI SMRT will be the first public operator to bring in an MIC bus. In the recent years private operators have started to bring in MIC buses, including Sentosa Leisure Group (the PA plated 8031 MIC bus IIRC). According to feedbacks from the commuters and drivers alike, these China-made buses rivals the European-made buses in various areas such as comfort. And the price seems to be the attractive factor in purchasing MIC buses. yep.
For the Yutong SMRT bus, it is not defective nor does it have defects. With the number of awards and certifications, together with company confidence allows Yutong to establish a firm customer base in several overseas markets like Cuba, Russia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong and Macao.
can check out their company page -> http://www.yutong.com/english/about/group.jsp

Bus by day, MRL by nite. ![]()

On a serious note, I don't have the time to play these kind of games with management. I'd rather go around cataloguing other buses.
no more news ah?
it is interesting that SMRT has a "ban" on photos of the bus.
you still can imagine how the bus look like cuase' it is Integral bodyworked.
Grab a pic of an Yutong City bus from soemwhere n imagine in SMRT colours. I feel SMRT is gg the right way buy buying these things. Although untested on the local bus citybus market. these fellas wd provide good rides and with their ZF original parts and Cummins european engine parts. wd be of least worry when maintain.
From what i ehar China new new buses r regulated to run on roads for ten yrs only. wonder what abt this Yu Tong?

ZYX... Source for this please. Otherwise this is a rumour and must be stated as such.
Anyone with the front picture of that SMRT Yutong Bus?
When will I see it on the roads?
what depot should it be under, and what super low demand service should it be placed on, and what colour is the EDS?
And... why isn't there an sgwiki page on the yutong?

his initial words in the post "i hear that...." isn't enough to quantify that this information is unconfirmed and may be just a rumour?
