possible.
but i got one question in mind. are the "ezlink" readers which you all mentioned really the ones used here, or are they just dummy sets used for exhibits or placeholding blanks? i dont see a point why would smrt bring in ez link readers to china just to fix it on the bus.

They're already installed, so why not? From the photo it's obvious they're real readers.
And SMRT doesn't manufacture EZ link readers.

Go look at the edited photo on the last post of Page 5.
Guys the ezlink reader can be spotted
-> save the image if possible to your computer, then zoom in to the window nearest to the door (closes to the middle pillar of the two windows at the front section of the bus). Look very carefully and you should be able to see half an ezlink reader with the yellow sticker at the tapping area. There are 3 more but that one is the easier one to spot. :D

I did spot the ez-link reader though. Maybe if you could zoom in to the picture and you'll see it hiding behind a pole.
For me, I really look forward for Yutong's demo. I want to evaluate whether the Yutong Buses could 'compete' with our current KUBs or OCs.

All TIBS and SMRT buses arrive in Singapore completely built up. So yes.

of course i know SMRT doesn't manufacture EZ link readers. a
and i wonder how sure are you that those readers are REAL when you dont even see them in operation before. they can be those pirated models made by some other manufacturing companies in china.
so lets just not deduce anything about the ez link and stuff, back to topic on the yutong bus and smrt
Looking at the interior. It follows LTA's guidelines.....

Why not? Yutong might just be a good bus supplier who decided to do up everything nicely for SMRT. Save SMRT's time and good for their image also.
Unless you are very sure the readers are manufactured and assembled locally.
We will never know if SMRT sent their staffs over to the factory during their recruitment exercise previously. If you notice, the design of the bus is a very "uniquely Singapore" (especially seating arrangements) standards and not the typical Chinese bodywork design.
i guess this bus is now waiting to be shipped to singapore

ERG Motorola Alliance (part of the ERG Group) does have an office in Hong Kong. So if anything, these readers might have just been manufactured in HK and shipped to China and installed on the bus. These readers need not be manufactured in Singapore. They can, in other countries.
That's what I think, because I find it ridiculous that they would need dummy readers on a bus.

Some parts that you have mentioned are related to supply chain ![]()
Outsource the installation of ez-link readers and painting of livery to another company, maybe to cut down on cost?
When bus companies come to purchasing a bus, they want a bus that is durable and worth the value (lowest if possible). The bus supplier need to have a good supply chain by co-ordinating well with the rest of the channel intermediary be it those who supply them the raw materials and etc... With that end-customers will be able to receive their order for new buses or spare parts as soon as possible.
So that's why SMRT or SBST buses may purchase this XXX model of buses as the quality is good, price is affordable and the company has good customer service and unique from the rest that they never offer. During postraction, for e.g. spare parts and are able to obtain easily when it comes to maintenance...

Yutong- largest bus mfg in China and Alcoa, world's leading producer and manager of primary aluminum, fabricated aluminum and alumina facilities, and is active in all major aspects of the industry. Sounds good. Preview the gearbox and engine noise all in the video.
edit - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jcQBmFOGYd8 the closest model number of the bus gearbox and noise...sounds SMRT-ish during the trip.
@ocean - ya i also spotted that. haha.
ZK6128hge in SHENZHEN be more similar with SMRT's model than the zk6120HG
the ZK6128hge detail:cummins power ,ZF bridge

Yutong is one of the more prominent and trusted bus makers from China now. Their products are exported all over the world.
Their buses coming to Singapore was just a matter of time.
Is this bus low floor, not low entry (according to the pic, theres no steps after the rear exit door) ? If so its gonna be great for SMRT. Low floor will force people to move to the back with no excuse saying " i going to alight later, dun wan stand on 'upper deck' ". If this bus is going to solve the prob of people not wanting to move back, i would certainly welcome this bus in.
Btw, ZYX, Cummins don't generally produce 12litre engines for city bus use. Unless they use the N series which are 12.2 litre. The largest common engine for city bus use from Cummins are the ISM series, which were 10.8litre. These were found on DTs and Enviro500s. Note to take of: The ISM were derived from the L10 engines (LO3x engines).
i think SMRT cooperation has ventured to China and buys new buses there~
If u all observed carefully, this Yutong has those small lights running along at the lower part of the body.this feature is common in RapidKL buses and of course in many other overseas operators also. but so far,no Singapore Public Bus has had this unique feature.when i saw this lights,i was very excited as this will be the first Singapore Public Bus to have this unique feature.![]()

The Lance also have this feature, albeit lesser than those you've mentioned. It's more of a safety feature of the bus, particularly at night.
well cant say whether this is good or bad news yet... wait till the buses start commencing public service then see the quality.
