It never fails to surprise me when it breaks down
2 only. quit whining. ive seen 4 different buses break down on sv 174 in a day. breakdowns are for many reasons.
I once saw B9 broke down at S'goon Nth, before Blk 138. B9 started revenue on 147 only less than a month it got broke down. The BC keep on cranking the engine but can't start. Dunno what happen after that as I was quite sleepy liao.
So I still think B9 breakdown rate still quite low.
Cheers.
I took a B9TL on svc 21 last yr
The bus suddenly violently vibrates then BC off AC.
Then Bc try restart engine but still vibrate, so BC declares breakdown...
Frm that they on, I think B9TLs are the model that most frequently breakdown.
Hope not to witness any breakdowns on 198 B9TLs. I dun want to be late for classes too.

I took SBS 7305 B on 21 on Sunday 4 Jan 09
From Pasir Ris the ride was ok until somewhere in Tampines there's this irritating high pitched beep from the diagnostics system. Driver restart engine at Bedok Reservoir Rd (stop after ClearWater), problem solved.
Few stops down the sound came back. Called OCC and the friendly chap on the line told the driver to off service at Bedok Reservoir Opp Blk 646. Driver didnt off service immediately. It was only till Geylang Rd Blk 14 Mkt/FC that the driver finally called it a day.
Believe its a problem with the aircon though it feels fine.
Sometimes the bus is too smart for its own good.

what are reasons for breakdowns?
Corsica,
I'm not asking you to lodge a complaint... Just thought it would be helpful for everyone if you provided the feedback / constructive comments to SBS Transit...
In that way, the particular buses that happen to give the problems could be checked and probably, other buses could be placed on that service in the meantime, thereby giving passengers on that route a more pleasant journey. In effect, a win-win situation for all affected.
Perhaps I was not clear, the above and my previous posts were my opinions...
As for this particular bus model, I have been riding on it ever since it was launched and up to now have only experienced one breakdown.
However, while there are various bus models, not all buses of the same make / model are exactly identical... some accelerate faster, some have smooth gear changes, etc.
My point is to identify the particular buses and have them fixed.
Regards,
Ebenezer

juz my own opinion and some jokes abt his fav.
When you have taken a B9TL in Hong Kong, whether if its a Enviro 500, Wright or Euro 4 (going 5?) one, you would most probably go 'pants in the seats'. There seem to be still a gap in the ones here and there of course... Their B9TL there do not suck at all, they are even faster than a single deck bus here, go down hill while accelerating, brake from 60 to 0 in three bus lengths, challenge Kennedy Town turns at 40-55 km/h, some of the specialties...

drivers report problems about buses and get them rectified. i often call in to notify SBST of 143 buses not in good shape too. thats all. i'm not gonna argue with your shallow and out of point statements.
basically B9TLs when they were new gave quite a number of problems but i can say that the maintenance for the SBST B9TL is now improving as a whole.
