For people who is going home on rainy days at AMK Hub as the existing Townlink 265 need to walk an extra mile to board it and will get wet along the way. This service will be more convenient for people to take as it is in the interchange. This may cause Townlink 265 to be a loop service from Ang Mo Kio Bus Interchange to Ang Mo Kio Ave 9 (The loop inside Nayang Poly)

Sample Fares:

Notes and Justifications :
Q: Why a need for a direct service to boonlay/pioneer?
A: Hopefully some time can be saved for students heading to school/ green personnel going to camp from Yishun/Khatib/North East side
Q: Sungei Kadut?
A: Yes, Sungei Kadut. Simple reason why is because its the only efficient way to get into Yew Tee/ CCK Way fast. Also, there is no previous bus links along CCK Way to anywhere. Bypassing BKE and KJE at mandai also reduces the risk of heavy traffic turning onto BKE in peak hours.
Q: Why exit at jalan bahar, and since the service seems to be targetted at students, why not go into NTU?
A: Going into NTU will probably introduce jams inside the tiny one laned roads in NTU, therfore its best that other scheduled services are used, furthermore, not all passengers might be students. Exiting at jalan bahar will help balance some load off 179 in the morning, and is probably faster too.
Q: Why not use Brickland road to Boon Lay?
A: Duplication of 180.
Q: Why the odd loop around Boon Lay?
A: I was thinking to end the service at Pioneer, but the nearest int is at boon lay, so there it goes. Otherwise a loop could also be a better suggestion, but might have scheduling issues.
Anything i missed out? Thought of this because i stay in yishun, and takes 1hour 30mins during non peak hours to go to NTU, which is a little frustrating with 2 transfers. Hopefully this might be faster and more direct, yet with enough passenger capacity.

Impossible, probably it seems long winded, but i believe it should cut or match the timing of 171+180 as the route is straightforward and a transfer wont be required. Most of the stops apart from yishun ave 2 and cck way and boon lay would basically have minimal loading, because its really areas of low demand. Cant really expect much pax from mandai and sungei kadut.

I think there is no need to loop as 179 have covered the pioneer area to NTU.

That was one of the concerns, but then, if stopping at boon lay w/o pioneer, it would make the service a little unattractive for those whos taking the shuttle instead of 179. Although i agree its more or less a pointless loop other than creating the link to pioneer.
849: extra-territoriality will mean SMRT cannot operate that far in the Boon Lay and NTU leg as they belong to SBST. so it's either you run to NTU first then to Boon Lay, or you're limited to the same route as 172. transferring to 179 or NTU Pioneer Shuttle is not a reason to run into Jurong West, because they have the alternative of taking 179 from Boon Lay so you can't snatch their business.

Although didnt really specify its SMRT operated, guess the rule would still apply. Was thinking if the boon lay sector would be alight only for yis-boonlay and boarding only for the return sector (something like 170) would the svc be excused for this rule?. but on second thoughts, i guess its a better idea to terminate it at Boon Lay. Pretty pointless to take so many extra stops to pioneer just to transfer to 179/NTU Pioneer when the pax could just take 199 from jln bahar and reach there much faster but w/ a little walking.
Main purpose here is to link up Yishun with Boon Lay on a fast link, comparable to trains and yet breaking new grounds along cck way seeing how its a pretty grey area there with no pub transport at all.
And thanks for the info tamago.

yup. 'cos if it were to be operated by SBST, there would be more restrictions in CCK and Yishun.

Why not scrap all the buses and build 100% rail lines to cover the whole of Singapore? U wouldnt want that would u? Basically, going alot of places are faster by train than bus, but friend, this is an alternative to taking trains. Same reason why theres 857 to city, and many residents in yishun still take 857 to town instead of trains.
Also, how is taking train Much Faster? I would strongly reject that claim, especially when it takes nearly 50mins on train. Supposingly the bus drives on a average speed of a very generous 25km/h including traffic lights and bus stops, it would only take 1 hour to boon lay.

But then look, Which depot you want it to be? AM? WL? KJ? None of them are ven centralized to be honest (852's case is an exemption)
