It isn't in N gear, its in 6th gear, which enables it to travel at low RPM due to the speed limiter, which in turn leads to it sounding quiet.

There is one particular SL who likes to engage N gear. His actions of doing gear selection is very obvious.

it is in N gear. i heard the SL pressing the gear selector. the whole bus goes quiet and got even faster.

There was a BC years ago on 161 who loves to do that to the VSOs.
I wonder if he was caught by mata or what cos he has stopped that practice...and before that, incidentally, a VSO on 161 was caught by mata for speeding.![]()

I took TIB985R on 960. The lady driver when going under Lornie Flyover on the PIE, she press N Gear. Everything went silent. Then the bus was moving so fast, wonder how she control a bendy so well......

It is very obvious whether N gear or in the 6th gear. I believe you can differentiate?

I believe that the s189 BCs are one of those best, if not most well trained on the type. Any kind of stunt they can do, with the exception of N gear, as this places the vehicle in a tight situation due to the switching of lanes/present of high volume of traffic along the route... Of course the next well trained ones I would vote for is s171.
The fastest ride I had so far was way back some years back, on TIB810L (last bus), 16 minutes from BB to KRT and about 12 minutes back to opp Blk 291E. That means a round trip was about 32+ minutes, much less from the scheduled 54 (pre-OC) / 58 (post OC) minutes. I believe the extra time was to prevent BCs from speeding for the last trip, but it depends on style. The fastest I heard was arrival of 14 minutes before schedule to KRT...
16-17 minutes from KRT to opp Blk 291E (night time) is about normal speed now, with lights and load along the way...
Yeah from the BLK 291E to BB int the bus can speed very fast .

Yes that guy.. Lol... A check on my phone's GPS showed abt 75 - 77 km/h.
u all like to travel at N gear go take Sv 190 off service at New Bridge Rd back to CCK/KJDEP then ur wish finally will come true. ![]()
N gear downslope can easily reach up to 8okm/h
Service 882 route less traffic?? Should have OC on it. The ride sure gonna be fast
