  I got see the news about given fines to both SMRT & SBST due to overcapacity on Channel 8 at 6.30pm just now. Lets us discuss this topic.

  Not too sure, nvr listened carefully. But I know they failed to keep the maximum requirement of capacizing 80% of passengers (Including standee areas).

  If the price of petrolum at USA rises again, there'll be a fare rise once again. But a week ago. The bus fare dropped because the price of petrolum dropped.

  Despite the hefty fines given, how come both bus operators still cannot meet the minimum QOs standards? Furthermore, there also got 'give way to buses' campaign.

  "both operators have demonstrated their commitment to meet commuters’ expectations and the standards set by the PTC" according to Mr Gerald Ee. Bus operators have been able to achieve the required standards on most basic bus services although there is room for improvements - channelnewsasia

  SBST and SMRT sure need to buckle up. If PTC says there is room for improvements we as the passengers, their customers are expecting something that'll defy our expectations in a good way.

  If overcapacity, there'll lead to accident and the bus won't work properly.

  Off-topic: This is the main reason why BBDEP don't intend to put striders to replace MK3 on 160/170 at the end of Nov, and put DM3500s instead. Coz DM3500s have larger capacity than striders.

  So, impose fines is the onli to solve this problem as PTC can't really think about any another alternative ways.

  196 as well. 2777E 7.04 slot from clementi. if leave any later the bus overcrowded by 2nd stop le. but DD still can kope fortunately.
