Probably the current route is too long and SBST couldnt manage the time properly, causing chaos in the loading and frequency of buses?
I suggest:
196 - Clementi >>> Marina Centre (Vice Versa)
Clementi Avenue 3
Commonwealth Ave West
Clementi Avenue 6
AYE
Clementi Road
Dover Road
North Buona Vista Road
Commonwealth Avenue
Queensway
Jalan Bukit Merah
Kg Bahru Road
Eu Tong Sen Street
Cantonment Road
Anson Road
Robinson Road
Fullerton Road
Esplanade Drive
Nicoll Highway
Raffles Boulevard
Marina Centre Terminal
146 - Bedok >>> Shenton Way (Vice Versa)
Bedok North Avenue 1
Bedok South Road
Bedok South Avenue 1
Marine Parade Road
Marine Terrace
Marine Crescent
Marine Parade Road
Amber Road
Mountbatten Road
Nicoll Highway
Collyer Quay
Raffles Quay
Shenton Way
Palmer Road
Shenton Way Terminal
Those who need to travel from Bedok and Clementi would have to transfer at Shenton Way. =)
e problem is just simply between Marine Parade & Shenton Way. By splitting e route, what abt ppl tat takes from Marine Parade beyond Shenton Way to work at Bt Merah? Asking them to transfer can, but tat Clementi - Shenton Way stretch demand is lower, so they've to wait longer at Shenton Way?

What I think is that the frequency would be less disruptive, compared to the former.
Bus frequencies can be planned better.

I see. Let's see wad SBST does. Haha...
Anyway, long services like 66, 67, 171, 700A, 966 often face frequency problems due to the long route. Sometimes the wait is 20 mins, sometimes the wait is 1 min. =X
Heavy loading for sv196 is mostly from East to CBD [morning n eveing runs]
There r Xovers fr either sv2, sv12, sv7 down route from Robinson Rd to Marine Parade...

the morning and evening downroute is done by two different 196 S shifts from Anson Rd to Bedok.

I've said the reasoning in the eforums.. for the benefit of everyone i'll reproduce it here.
S57 failed is because on their pm peak trips to bishan they suffer alot of unforeseen traffic conditions and the schedule planners had not factor this in ever since goodness knows when. In addition, their mealbreak times are rather short. Hence, if a bus arrives late at Bishan but scheduled a 21min mealbreak, the driver would then have a 20min mealbreak and thus depart late for its next trip out as well.
S36 failed is also due to city traffic conditions. This causes buses who arrive late to do 36A as next trip or off service to do downroute or whatsoever. In any cases, there's lesser trips departing from Changi Airport.
As for S229 the only reason i can find is the right turn from NEw Upp Changi Rd to Chai Chee estate, thus having little or no break and then late departure for next trip.
Sv 57 brunches very easily even on weekends

196 is a very unique service imo. the clementi area there acts like a feeder, off peak no demand. demand sector for sv196 is very skewed to the eastern region.
