The current SBST/SMRT bus market is dvided around 3/5 n 2/5 respectively. Prehaps a balance equal market will be more comprehensive for both coy?
Tibs used to ctrl North n par of North-East area(Sengkang, Punggol, Seletar, Jln Kayu) bef Tib losing the NEL to SBS.
I was disappointed @ tat time when Tibs lose the NEL but again it gain ctrl of North-West areas.
If government decide to give the West area(Boon Lay, Jurong East) to SMRT(To improved Strategzed bus network) and North East area(Sengkang Punggol) was given back to SMRT, I will welcome the idea to improve the competition n bus network.
The whole NEL bus network is under SBST. I think its not necessary for SBST to gain 100% of bus network in NEL area eventhough I agree that it will be more strategized.
if tat was the point, SMRT ctrl NSL n EWL, but majority of the bus Network goes to SBST. Shld it be fair to SMRT if it gains more of the bus market?
it depends. the matter will worsen after the bendies are de-registered. But fret not, I was told that after the planning is done, LTA and PTC will hand out the services in packages for tender. The company that thinks they can cater to that few routes well will get the tender. The re-tendering is done (i forgot how long) to check on whether the companys are doing well on the services

So u mean u wan it reversed back again?
This is impossible man, u have seen e western areas don't belong to SMRT AT FIRST. So what's the point giving a teritory to SMRT? Liddat SBST will lose, and withdrawl bus services, so what's the point buying more buses when you want them to withdrawl bus services?

5 - 7 years.
I would prefer if the bus companies spread out over the island instead of each controlling a few areas. More interesting and can offer better comparison of the services by each company.

feeder buses different route different companies...imagining 293 as SMRT and 911 as SBS. I think PTC shld scrape the cross territerial rule...it limits the places ppl can travel from 1 place to another
If iveco sees this topic, his same old line will reappear. Who is here long enough would know. haha

So its something like sv 190 might be given back to SBST??
I will welcome the idea of svc 80(864), 86(866), 119(860), 82, 103, 103M, 163, 163M, transfer back to SMRT(Tibs).
Miss those days where by 82 deploy bendies n lance on 103, 163, 866
SMRT eat meat SBS can go eat grasss le
Give 67 back 2 SBST coz it covers 3/4 of SBST routes, 1/4 of SMRT routes.

If 67 give back to SBST, DD cannot be used due to hight restrictions, which means full SD and there'll be problems coping with the demand, so its better that 67 remains with SMRTB since SMRTB is deploying bendies to cope with the demand.
if 190 returns back to SBST, most likely there will be B9TL.

I just thought of something. If here not happy with SBST, there not happy with SMRT, there can be one way to make everyone happy.
Nationalize the transport system.
Like that no one make noise who is operating where. Government will own the whole system. Think about it, makes sense if kids are arguing which part of the cake they should get, the parent can just take the whole cake and divide it for the children. Children get to eat, parent get to shut out the noise.
Of course that does not seem to be where we are heading.

LOL. the B9TL is meant to replace VO2x & LO3x. Coz these two are under SLBP alr liao. Somemore, going 2 a CBD area, it's veri weird 2 see VO2x again. In the past, nvm. But now is different.
Siao.. give the west to SMRT.. Only if SMRT give SBST the EWL line. IF nt, great loss for SBST.

Isn't LTA going to do something like that? They are taking over the planning of the bus network and letting the bus companies bid for them. Its like your analogy, just that the children get to argue why they deserve the cake more than the others. The parent has the final decision.
Nationalization sounds rather drastic. From what i know, nationalized transport systems make losses and we know SG government don't meddle with loss-making stuff.
isounds like a good news to SMRT fans ... too bad for sbs and no way we can argue about to put 190 back to sbs , we ain't LTA ppl ...
A case study for everyone,:
Think abt HK, there r 5 bus coy(KMB, LWB, NWFB, CTB, NLB, KCRC) are divided into sectors by operating rights jus like SBST/SMRT.
However, bus svc of rival coy r common not in their home base sector, like NWFB in Kowloon, which belong to KMB.
They even have joined operated bus svc(Cross Harbor Svc from HK mainland to HK island)
Similar, Singapore could have Cross Territorial Bus svc by both SBST/SMRT of the same svc?
Imagine Svc 160, 170, 950 jointly operated by SBST/SMRT. It will be interesting.

no thx. i dunwan to ruin my day by taking a lousy mk2 bendy on sv39.
i rather SMRT control all trains and SBST for all buses...
Or vice versa...(just kidding)

But HK is big, not like Singapore, n they hav more ppl. BTW, wouldn't having an SMRT bus on an SBST service (vice versa) be confusing at times? It would take quite awhile for people to get used to it.
