Yes that's the "effect".

Although in my view, the Volvo B10M series without their rim guards look much cooler. But the O405s...well look abit stupid, at least for the Hispano Carrocera version from SMRT.

Good news is:
These markers (permanent markers) are generally not truly permanent as, on most surfaces, they do not stain but form a surface layer that can be removed by high pressure cleaning or paint thinning solvents such as acetone, and they will eventually wear away over time. (Wikipedia)
sometimes dun even need so much chemical..
sometimes juz use a whiteboard marker, which is usually alcohol based solvent, write over it and quickly wipe with dry cloth.

volvos of no rim guards is like norm. ur photo of the 66 is wat i thought as shag, chui axle that looks disgusting and not refined. The rim guard for merc is kinda trademark, maybe the similarity to N113 axles makes it so?
No comments for SMRT's mercs.

That kind of age when cam needs film
and security is not a concern. I think BCs will only laugh their heads off than kb ur photo taking. The whole stretch of walkway along the shops makes it good to take these buses parking at the back.

Ah, the good old days! Variable costs is a real deterrent. Too bad we can't have the best of both worlds.
Thanks for sharing the photo with us!
