These bus stop signs at Bukit Timah have very sharp edges and are placed at a very low level, says STOMPer Killer Bus Stop.
The sender, who was nearly injured while walking, hopes to highlight the problem to the authorities in charge.
In an email dated October 15, STOMPer Killer Bus Stop says:
“The signage at this Jalan Anak Bukit bus stop opposite Bukit Timah Plaza is placed too low.
“It is very hazardous for pedestrians and users of this public bus stop as the edges are very sharp.
“I was walking towards this bus stop with my friend last night. As I was chatting away with my friend, I did not notice this signage with sharp corners.
“I almost hit my head against the sharp corner of the signboard and nearly injured myself. Luckily, my friend was quick enough to pull me away to avoid this catastrophe.
“I could have died on the spot if my friend did not notice it.
“I got a shock of my life how can this public hazard be around for so long?
“It can be very dangerous for old folks especially when they cannot see properly.
“It appears that this is not the first time someone has noticed this hazard, judging from what is written on it.
“Can the relevant authority do something about it?”
Lowly-placed bus stop sign has been moved higher
http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sgseen/what_bugs_me/272632/lowlyplaced_bus_stop_sign.html
SMRT has since had this lowly-placed bus stop sign in Bukit Timah, moved higher for commuters' safety.
This is in reference to STOMPer's Killer bus stop's observation that a bus stop sign in Bukit Timah was placed exceptionally low. His concern was that passers-by may knock into the low sign, and get seriously injured by its sharp edges.
A Spokesperson for SMRT told STOMP:
"We thank the STOMPer for his keen observation and taking time to highlight the matter to us.
"Our contractor has moved the sign higher for commuter’s safety."
Student puts his feet up and makes himself at home in bus
This student in school uniform put up his feet on the facing pair of seats while travelling on a bus. STOMPer Peggy was appalled by his inconsiderate behaviour.
Here's what Peggy had to say:
"This boy boarded the bus, threw his bag on the seat and put his feet up on the seats opposite him.
"He didn't even bat an eyelid, when all eyes were on him.
"Where are his manners? Does he not have any discipline at home or at school?"

Everyday, we see private vehicles, taxis etc parking along those dotted areas of the bus lanes, mostly along Shenton Way and Orchard Road. All the dotted lines mean is that there is a left turn in it, NOT to indicate that it is a carpark. If buses need to filter out of bus lanes to overtake PARKED vehicles, then what is the purpose of bus lanes?
Bus lane are used when there is a traffic jam as the bus sometimes need to get to that place and it is only a 1-way dirrection.
