Its a SMRT habit, identified using the wheel hub. The purple yellow and white livery is due to the full body president's charity ad. Shld be 1020T in that case.

Idiots like this are only going to force RATIS regime on bus arrival screens, i.e. anything more than 15 minutes would turn up blank.

LOL. Service 857...... Very unreliable.
It takes time to get it redeveloped. The area surrounding Jurong East Town Centre is currently in the development process of the new Jurong Lake District.
Jurong East Bus Interchange is serving the residents for nearly 25 years since it opened on 30 June 1985.
The STOMPer should not have said that the development is overdue if there is no proper research being carried out before posting up in STOMP.

It wont be that fast definitely. Building air-conditioned interchanges needs the collaboration of the URA and LTA, whereby they will look at the needs of the interchange, the crowds, the demands. Currently there is no shopping mall attached to it, so URA would always attach something above the interchange in order to maximise the land use, and the a/c can also somehow be shared to the shopping mall. So from that, you can see it wont be a 2/3 year thing. Furthermore, LTA's plans of converting to a/c interchanges does not have Jurong East inside before that. If Im not wrong, its Serangoon, Bedok that are up next. Jurong East could possibly be one of the next though

Given the JEM Project (MRT), I see a good chance for JRE int to upgrade soon.

The bus and MRT are 2 different things lor. I did not say with JEMP, and unlikely because of JEMP. They are not that impactful on each other.

Wow they finally fined 857. I'm not surprised at all. Given that they refuse to deploy weekday bendies on this service it comes as no surprise why the frequency can be screwed up. Loading is so high as this is the only route linking town to Yishun fastest, but I cannot comprehend why WLDEP refuses to deploy weekday bendies. Weekend bendies were meant for the weekend crowd, but I find weekend bendies more un-utilised as compared to the loadings during weekdays. I once waited 25 mins during evening peak at SOTA and 3 packed 857s came together. It says alot about it's demand during critical hours. A bendy would safely take care of that.
As a Yishun resident myself, I don't take the train to town unless it's urgent because Toa Payoh and southbound thereafter is a packed nightmare. I can choose 171 or 857 but 171 is seriously too long to town. So 857 is my only choice, and many other Yishun folks would take that service too. 45 mins to town, who wouldn't want that?
Another thing is that this service is a loop service, given that CTE may jam once in a while it affects the return direction's frequency. I hope they consider making 857 a bi-directional service so as to cut down on the irregular frequency in the return direciton.
Time to wake up WLDEP. Alot of WLDEP services don't need so many bendies. 857 needs them more.
