A STOMPer was confused by two bus guides published by Transitlink and Mighty Minds. Both guides state different fare prices for different bus journeys.
He hopes that the Authority will be able to clarify this.
Says the STOMPer:
"In the first picture of the TransitLink Guide 2009 published by TransitLink.
"The booklet costs $2.50.
"In this booklet the Bus Service number increases from page 105 (Bus service No. 2) till page 448 (Bus Service No 985).
"Thereafter the pages do not increase with the bus service number.
"Bus Service No. 530 then starts from page 449 and Bus service No. 581 ends at page 473.
"On page 101 there are only four examples of calculation of fares for fare stages of 3.5 and 4.5.
"Beyond fare stage of 4.5 the booklet is silent.
"Whereas in the second picture of BUS GUIDE & BUS-STOP DIRECTORY (2009 Edition), published by Mighty Minds, which costs $3.90, states different prices.
"In this booklet, the Bus service numbers run in tandem with the page numbers.
"Bus service No. 2 starts on page 119 and ends with Bus service number 985 on page 460.
"On page eight, the calculation of bus fares is plain and simple to understand.
"It tells you that from fare stage 0-4, you pay $0.71 and for fare stage 4.5-7 you pay $0.93.
"Beyond 35.5 fare stages you pay $1.67.
"Which version should commuters follow?
"Why is there a discrepancy in price?
"I hope LTA will enlighten commuters so that they buy the correct version."http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/singaporeseen/viewContent.jsp?id=71915
Did you mean the one published on 2 Oct 2008 or 13 Mar 2009?

Hard braking cost SBS Transit $82,000
SBS Transit was ordered to pay $82,000 in compensation to a woman who has difficulty walking after she fell on a service 372 bus.
The incident happened on April 28, 2004. The woman was sitting opposite her sister in a four-seater seat. The bus was travelling along Compassvale Drive when the driver suddenly slammed hard on the brakes while approaching a traffic light.
The impact caused the woman to be thrown off her seat. She lurched forward and hit her sister's knees. She suffered tenderness on her chest, wrists, right ankle, right shoulder and swelling and tenderness on her left ankle.
The woman told the court that she did not inform the driver immediately after the incident as she was scared of the bus driver who had driven in such a dangerous manner.
In its defence, SBS Transit denied the incident had happened and that it was a fake story the woman had made up.
When the bus driver took the stand, he said he could not recall the incident and that he came to know about it only when he was called up by his employer following the woman's complaint. But the bus driver admitted in court he later received a police warning over it.
SBS Transit initially offered the woman $3,500 in 2004 but she rejected the amount and filed a suit 3 years later after her condition showed no improvement.
Long story cut short, although the woman won the case, she was unhappy with the amount awarded and is appealing to get more money.
