Agreed with you.
Now the strength of H1N1 flu had increased to 4. (All from USA)
There's high chance that governments increases from yellow to orange, thus, there'll be changes.
Will monitor the situation and make necessary changes / precautionary measures if the need arises.

oh ya lol
anyway the event is still scheduled for 20th June as per title, subjected to changes should anything happen.
Should there be anything like that happen near the event or the day itself, the race most likely will be posponed or even be cancelled. Reason being is that as the main organising committee, I can't afford to risk everybody lives for that kind of life-threatening chaos. But I strongly believe that the virus will be under controlled. =D
I may not turn up for the race as the media is involved.

The bus community must get a proper PR consultant... To be involved in media relations... I think the community must have someone that knows how to talk with the media - in giving proper info and not giving info when it is not due.
I go as long as i dun wan my face in the newspaper or something.

My opinion is that the media should not meddle in the affairs of a quasi-private event just to "give" us media coverage. Do note of whatever you speak or mention to the media can be intepreted differently by the media.
I am sure the organiser wouldn't want a case of this:
Organiser: We want to have free and openess to do our hobby
Media interpretation: "Bus Fans" have weird hobbies and joyride aimlessly on Singapore's transportation system.
Some of you people have no idea how bad the media can twarp what you say to them...
it's something non-bus fans will ever know.
the experience of joyriding.
i dont wish to c e media on that day. it's our pte affair.
Can't turn up.NDP Training.^&^$*&*$*
As spoken to the reporters on the phone a while ago, they will not turned up on that actual day.
It's comfirmed. ![]()

never mind lah, just come lo, will not die due to media lah.....
I'm very impressed with Derrick's response to the media, considering that this is his first time representing the community at sgForums or elsewhere. There is a lot of truth in the hesitation of enthusiasts, who would shy away when encouraged to share more about their bus spotting hobby.

yeah.
But I was less than impressed with how the report came out.
It was clear that the reporter was even less impressed.

Yup. To be fair I think Derick did an awesome job in standing out as the spokesperson... But how the reporter phrased the article leaves much to be desired...
If you analyse and analyse again and again for the last sentence, you would find the sarcasm in the statement... The reporter only looking for juicy info, imho...
And also do note that the media has no obligation whatsoever to report the way you want the info to be reported. I think that should be taken note of too. Next time any reporter comes to any bus spotter and asks for opinions, it should be met with a polite no opinion, or if you are very confident in what you stand for, do not, at any moment in time, give the reporter the impression, even the slightest, that you are doubtful of what you are speaking.

I share your compliments. Derrick's statement was frank and most importantly, spoke out the feelings of some enthusiasts.
