Empty buses (and very good frequency) on one side of the road may starve the other direction of sufficient buses. While you enjoy on one side, the other side may be suffering... It all goes down to Theory of Relativity.
Seriously, do u think aunties/uncles/school children or NS men who is going to be late for camp/work/sch actually give a damn about air pollution? They just want the bus to arrive now, arrive on time, pray that it is not crowded, travel at its normal speed & not slow down just for the sake of 'following the shedule'.
Just increase more buses loh. Don't tell me we pay so much they can't even increase buses for us arh. Take off the TVmobile & increase more buses instead. Who needs a tv in bus -.-

One day the implications of air pollution will be upon us. Though we have environmentally friendly vehicles on the road now

"In its time" - All buses are considered environmental friendly at the point of introduction. In fact, for some old MBO405/DAFs, you might still see the "This environmental friendly bus is licensed to carry..." sign affixed in it.
It's more about trying to promote the image of corporate and environmental responsibility.

Oh, I didn't know that old buses have that sign too. LoL.... Taking buses are deemed as an alternative mode of transport over driving cars because technically speaking, buses emit lesser quantities of pollutant gases in proportion to the number of cars on the roads.
As much as the image is set, if the buses are poorly maintained, all efforts to conserve that identity will just crumble and fall into deaf ears of commuters and stakeholders.
