New mall in Serangoon Central
25 Nov 08

Serangoon Central will have a new mall come end-2010.
The six-storey mall will be the epicentre of the integrated transport
hub comprising a new 16-bay Serangoon Bus Interchange and the Serangoon
MRT station.
It will offer a range of shopping and entertainment features, such as a
24-hour retail and food and beverage zone, a 10-screen cineplex. games
arcade, pet lovers' enclave and unique balcony dining establishments.
There will also be a 500-seat food court, a 60,000 sq ft hypermarket
and a 50,000 sq ft department store.
Designed as an eco-friendly mall, the yet-to-be-named mall will be set amidst lush garden enclaves and landscaped sky terraces.
Gold Ridge - which counts institutional investors from USA and Europe
as shareholders - is the developer and Pramerica Real Estate Investors
(Asia) is the investment manager for the mall investors.
Total investment in the project is estimated at $1.3 billion.

serangoon fire station is history now.unfortunately.
its a Y shaped tunnel to facilitate traffic flow towards town direction onto bendemeer from macpherson and upp serangoon and vice versa.
It includes an additional lane of flyover for the spill over traffic along the PIE slip road
There is an article here posted by QX179R somewhere...
"serangoon fire station is history now.unfortunately."
yea i know, but the bus stop is still named such and was very misleading.
I wasted 1 hour last time when I wanted to alight there for a transfer from Svc 23.. I ended up going back to Bedok North Rd only to realise that I had missed the stop ![]()
As such, I had been avoiding routes that require a transfer at that stop. Only recently I found the exact location of that stop, It's right after where the bus exits PIE I think..

yea its on the left at the old civil defence divisonal HQ right infront of the LONGEST ERP GANTRY in singapore i am sure.![]()
the colonial era fire station wasnt the only casualty, the rat infested jackson kopitiam also. ![]()
And u end up going all the way back to bedok north? u go one round to simlim and back? omg.
i know that bus route well because its my sweethearts bus route. she used to take it to school everyday. hahahahaha
speaking of svc 23, i'm always taking dat bus after my every nite class..
will always walk from "the verge" till rochor canal rd to board..
how i wish it can just head straight onto PIE instead of turning right to TP. ![]()
wishes never come true ![]()
feedback to sbst & see what they say..![]()
Yea.. stupid of me to not note that Serangoon Fire Station was located before Sim Lim.. The name also quite misleading. I waited to see if it was after Mustaffa Ctr or something and the bus ended up going on PIE already :(
But now I always check the service information panel at the bus stop (too bad if the bus comes before I do that, esp if I have not taken that bus before, but no worries with most SMRT buses
)

just like how I wish 15 would skip Kaki Bukit area completely and turn into PIE from Eunos Link and exit at Bedok Reservoir
i am still baffled as to where the entrance and exit of the new interchange will be if it is to be built on the ground floor of the new shopping mall...

there will be confusions as well as mess here & there..
so juz wait patiently for it to be completed..
OT but i am also waiting for the flyover between bartley and kaki bukit to complete.
once it is i can drive straight to tampines straight prolly within 15 mins.

tat was Sv 23's original route when it was Tampines - Orchard and later on Tampines - Rochor Canal Rd
It was thks to opening of TP's campus tat Sv 8 & 23 was diverted
wow are we going off topic...

hmm you are right. Its shaw if i am not wrong.
but GV is just 2 stops away on the circle line. but heck, i seldom watch movie in the heartlands anyway
Anyway, since the interchange is supposed to be on the ground floor, we will be able to view the rough layout of it pretty soon since they have to form up the ground floor first.
If like that, where would be the entrance and exit of the Interchange? I wonder if the entrance would be at Serangoon Ave 2 or where else?
