Yup.
Indirect press release from Scania.

And new product from Scania.
The N-series. Not sure if SBST is acquiring this.

The N-series isn't new, it has been out together with the K-series, just that it wasn't marketed in Asia-Pac region. There have been N230UBs around since at least 2007.

The earlier Volvo press release has already mentioned that the buses "will be mounted locally".

ooh...didn't read the Volvo press release in detail. thanks for pointing that out.

Hmm... Combination of the highly distinctive styling cues from the highly acclaimed Wrightbus StreetCar RTV and Gemini 2...
I wonder how does it look like with a combination of the 2, but it should look very very modern.

Anyway it is good news, it has been years since we saw a UK bodied double decker, after the DM bodied Dennis Trident and the Walter Alexander Volvo Olympian (9600-9670)
It has been a tradition for SBS/SBST bus bodies to be imported as CKD kits and assembled locally. So nothing new if they wants to do it like this this time round. I wonder when the prototype vehicle will be completed...

this articulated bus seemed quite cool. However, i felt that it might be just the prototype having UK bodywork, the production batch may well reverts back into CDGE or Gemaling bodywork
"
The 12m air-conditioned tri-axle buses, which will be built on Volvo B9TL chassis, will be supplied as completely knocked down (CKD) kits from the Ballymena factory in Northern Ireland and assembled locally in Singapore. Designed to meet the specific requirements of climate and high capacity transport on the Island City State, the new Double Deck buses feature share the highly distinctive styling cues from the highly acclaimed Wrightbus StreetCar RTV and Gemini 2 product stable.
An initial prototype vehicle is currently in build and when completed and shipped overseas will provide a benchmark for local production, which is due to commence in spring 2010. Wright Group quality standards will be maintained by a highly experienced team of engineers from the Wrightbus factory, who will train local assembly staff in Singapore.
Delivery of the CKD kits is scheduled to start early in 2010, with all vehicles due to be fully assembled and in service by the end of the year.
"
I believe Spring 2010 means March 2010 since Wrightbus is located in the Northern Hemisphere.

Please go and read that article again.
It says that
" The Wright Group has won a significant export order together with Volvo Bus Corporation to supply the bodywork for 150 new double deck buses to SBS Transit of Singapore. The multi million pound order – which involves “kits” produced locally in Ballymena shipped out for local assembly - will see Wrightbus bodied vehicles on the streets of Singapore for the very first time."
So it means the design of all the 150 B9TLs are according to the Wrightbus features. All the body kits, like the skeletons, the side body panels, the interior cabin panels, the floorings, the lights, etc are all made in Northern Ireland, and these kits will be shipped in bulk to Singapore for local assembly, either in Hougang Depot, Soon Chow or SC Auto.
They had already ordered all the bodykits, so how can it be reverted to CDGE or Gemilang??? It makes no sense. And there is no official press that Gemilang is bodying the B9TLs.
Given the past history of SBS/SBST assembling its own buses, all the Duple Metsec, Volgren, Walter Alexander bodied buses, all are imported as kits to SBS so that SBS can fully assemble their own bus bodies locally but products from overseas. And this has been practised by SBS since the 1970s.
Unless you mean that the bus bodies are assembled locally in Hougang, Soon Chow and SC Auto, maybe it makes more sense. I suggest you should buy the Soon Chow Anniversary book to know more about local bus body building in Singapore. You will learn a lot of things about the local bus industry as well.

The assembly of the buses locally should start in Spring 2010, meaning that the prototype will be delivered much earlier than the date mentioned. The prototype will serve as an example for the local assemblers to refer.
This is different from the Leyland Olympian 3-axle, where one unit was shipped into Singapore with its bodywork skeletal frame from WA's plant in Falkirk, for HGBA to refer.

The prototype, as well as the production units will feature the same, exact bodywork. Seems likely that CDGE, and maybe a couple of other assembler will be trained to assemble the bodywork in Singapore.
Gemilang is not involved in this DD project.

I believe the demo will be delivered and assembled by March 2010 whilst other kits are being made...lots of possible ways of interpreting the article
it seem like SBST have secured a good price for this Wrightbus bodywork from the press release. Wrightbus seem to be facing some problem in their business during this economic downturn and i think they are willing to reduce the price and ship even CKD bodykits to Singapore... Further, from the press release page, from feb till Aug, did not see any press release for securing big quantity bodykit orders as well..
The Wright Group has broken new ground in Asia with two significant contracts to build more than 200 buses in Singapore and Hong Kong.
The Ballymena company has been pursuing new market opportunities and these wins will not only reinforce their position as a world leader in public transit vehicle design, but also help the company to weather the current global economic downturn.
i can't help but imagine the Wright bodywork looking a tad weird in SBST colours and rimguard-less Alcoa rims.

Mee too, cannot imagine.....
I was thinking these:
1)Will it look like our dull look CDGE B9TLs?
2)Will it look ugly?
3)Will it look like our K230UBS?
But i think is some from one part lah ah..

Hopefully this SBST Wright B9s got dress rims like the KMB Wright B9s.Just look how smart they look with those dress rims.

Wow nice so we are gonna see a demonstrator B9 as well.
