56 merged with 58 which plied frm bishan to marina centre...anyone knows wad was the route like?
58 used to ply braddell rd, upp s'goon rd and followed 133 route to marina ctr.
how come the topic of past depot and deployment became Routes of the past?
Does anybody have an idea how did service 7 got under HGDEP control in the past?

7 terminates at bedok
bedok is an east district interchange, jointly controlled by bn and hg.
bndep and hgdep were under east district
get the picture?
in response to svc 238 interesting repsosne.
the topic has been renamed to incldue discussions on past routes as well..
happy reminiscing.

the history of svc 93
well well, one of my fav services. pls trace its beginnings.
In the early days, there was a bus company called Tay Koh yat. Tay Koh yat started to expand beyong providing bus services to the Sembawang British naval base areas and opened up a new bus terminus @ Bartley Rd and bradell Rd Junction.
this was near those shophosues at the junction which I HOPE still stands today.(all those roadworks may have brought the demise of these lvoely shophosues type buildings)
and so came the introduction of Service 10 and Service 10A by tay Koh yat.
Service 10 ran roughly like this, bartley rd, braddell rd, lornie rd, adam rd, farrer rd, holland rd, hollabnd V, nth bouna vista rd, and terminate at the junction of pasir panajng rd and south bouna vista rd.
Service 10A ran like this: bartley rd, braddell rd, lornie rd, adam rd, farrer rd, queesnway, and loop at queesway circus. (at the jucntion of Queensway and alexandra rd)
i think u cna see that tay Koh yat service 10A eventually got retained during the great bus numbering + great bus company reogrnaisation and merger era.
this service was assigned service number 93. And by then the international airport was at paya leabr and the bus was called 93 because all airport bus services started with a digit 9 (except 94 whcih was funny and terminalted at Kolem Ayer est)
and so today whenh u take bus 93, jsut remmeber its tay Koh yat origins.
How svc 980 came about.
I think by now u know i really liked this Tay Koh yat Bus company,
Thsi concerned tay koh yat very first services. the british naval base was opened in 1933 in the Sembawang area as a precaution measure to WW2.
as a result new road was built called sembawang rd connecting to the then existing cross island going nroth rd called upp thomson rd. a Bus service provider was needed. tay Koph yat say "me me me me"
tay Koh yat gave services 1 was a feeder service. which i not care.
the base was so big, many areas of exit/entry are defined.
In town a bus depot was set up along Beach rd beside the sea 9chamring). the bus depot further down was a bus terminus called Hoi haw Rd Bus terminus. in later years it is called Crawfurd St.
TKY Svcs2 , 3 and 5 were the service that ran along SBW rd, Upp Thomon rd, thomson rd, bt timah rd and down to beach rd.
3 and 5 are belvied to serve from the West end of the base, that leaves svc 2 presumbly serving from the eastern side, running along inside the base, 9today the road which ran is similair to Admialryt rd).
so we concentrate on service 2.
later service 2 and many other tay koh yat services were invovled in the great 1969s numbering excercise and bus company merger thing.
tay koh yat became part of UBC.
and UBC svc 160 was born doing TKY svc 2.
musch later UBC 160 became SBS 160. as part fo the plan to unify the all bus companys to one entity came to be realsied in 1971)
SBS 160 went on to eb trasnferred to a new entity bus company called TIBS.
it became TIb160 in 1983.
much later SMRTbus came about and the then 160 was already became svc 980 as a renumebr excercise.
So today when u take 980, remember its past as TKY svc 2, how the naval base seamen take the svc to town and why the service runs along the roads ....and why Crawfurd St terminal had such a significance.

anyone recalls SBS9807G was swapped for what bus?

Swop from 28 to 12? or 12 to spare? or spare to 22? or 22 to 154?
How did the current service 151 route came about?
Originally posted by SBS2615P:anyone recalls SBS9807G was swapped for what bus?
I thought your question was answered?
9302X from BN 12?
9183Y from AM 22?
9170J from BR 154?
SBS9807G [BR 028] - [BN 012] - [BN SP] - [AM SP] - [AM 022] - [BR 154]
Originally posted by Rk 2010:How did the current service 151 route came about?
Introduced in 1993. Route was between Hougang South interchange and Kent Ridge terminal.
There were 3 amendments to the route:
1) Plied Defu Ave 1 (duplicated former service 323 between Hougang South interchange and Defu Ave 1) before amended to ply Hougang Ave 3 between Tampines Rd and Defu Ave 1.
2) Amended to ply Kent Ridge Crescent to serve NUS and skipped Clementi Rd between the 2 junctions of Kent Ridge Crescent.
3) Extended to Hougang Central interchange in Feb 2004 when Hougang South interchange closed.
Original route:
Hougang South interchange, (Hougang St 21), (Hougang Ave 1), Tampines Rd, Defu Ave 1, Hougang Ave 3, Airport Rd, MacPherson Rd, (Bendemeer Rd), (Whampoa North), Serangoon Rd, Jalan Toa Payoh, Whitley Rd, Bukit Timah Rd, Clementi Rd, Kent Ridge terminal.
i mean when SBS9807G was transferred to AMDEP from Svc 12 which bus came over to BN?

So I take it that the bus stops along Defu Ave 1 are now derelict?
Anyway, 151 & 154 duplicate a lot from Clementi Rd/C'wealth Ave West to MacPherson Rd/Upp Aljunied Rd. If possible 151/154 and 156 could swap routes?

I always suspected HGDEP was relocated from Simpang Bedok, hence BDK route group was split.
Anyway, it didn't surprise me that BN wanted full control of BDK routes after HG shifted over to West control.
If all BDK routes are BN responsibility save for 87, how to explain 16, 25 & 26 coming under their respective depots full control?

Cannot....Coz 154 & 151 serves tertiary students from both SIM & Ngee Ann Poly. The buses tend to be full at certain days.

Has it ever occured to you that Bedok is full and/or not enough manpower, and that 25 26 are also under east district?

the bus stops are fine.
If you say 151 and 154 duplicates for such a long stretch, why not 25 854 have its route changed like 854 goes down to paya lebar rd instead?
or 66 67 duplicate from Jln Besar till Bt TImah 7th mile.. might as well let 67 run thru town and follow 75 or something?
25 and 26 I can understand. But 16 used to be BN control when Marine Parade Terminal was in its heyday.
25/854 and 66/67 is a matter of having a different operator for each route.

From what i guess should be SBS9826B

anyone knows the deplyment of the mb0305 when they first came into service?

only just recently was 16 amended to BDK , it used to loop at siglap road. you cant expect drivers to change shift at siglap road. do you? and besides which having singledepot control makes life simpler for SBST.
172 used to have a loop service between Boon Lay and Upp Bukit Timah Road. Do you have any idea which bus company shortened the route to Choa Chu Kang Interchange? SBS or TIBS?
