But for 171, it was an SBS service extending its route to Yishun from Sembawang (Mandai Rd), then in 1995 handed overr to TIBS, thus it cannot be renumbered to avoid any confusion like what TIBS has done to renumber its Bt Batok Feeders.
I was referring to you to qualify this statement
171 cannot be renumbered as 850 is partly because the Yishun service was not newly introduced by TIBS.
Where is your justification?
And for the record, the 94x BBT feeders were renamed from SBS 36x so WTF you talkin' about??
Some services are not renumbered due to legacy reasons, and not because of this or that.

The first "Bishan Townlink" service 410 was introduced in JUne 1992, with links to Sin Ming Dr. This service was swapped plates in 1993. At the same time, service 57 which plies along Sin Ming Dr was withdrawn.

In the past, Bishan Int was the only interchange with the least services, 5 services i.e. 53, 54, 55, 56 & 410. With the addition of the 4 new services - 52, 57, 58, 59, Bishan Int has more variety of its services that ply different parts of Singapore. Like 57 that goes to Bukit Merah, 58 goes to Paris Ris and so on. Now Bishan Int has 9 services serving the needs of the Bishan Residents.
SIN MING ROAD TERMINAL
In the past, only 130 plies from Sin Ming Rd terminal to Anson Rd as well as CSS Bus no 5. When the Ang Mo Kio Int opens in 1983, Service 130 amended to serve Ang Mo Kio Int leaving CSS 5 behind which still terminates at Sin Ming Rd. Certain former bus terminals were demolished due to redevelopment works in the area or land acquistion. One of the terminal, former Ulu Pnadan Terminal was converted into a seafood restaurant.
Adding on to my post on 13 sep (regarding about the Ulu Pandan Ter):
For the Ulu Pandan terminal, the only service that still serve the terminal was 188 (Ulu Pandan to Shenton Way), after service 61 was extended to Bt Batok. when the service 188 witdrawn in 1987, the terminal will also have to be abolished, leaving into a quiet state, abandoned without demolition. But until early 1990s, the terminal converted into a seafood restaurant.

about service 5.
before i go on about the history of bt panjang services, i would like to brief about service 5.
service 5 was extended from Bt timah terminua to Gangsa Rd terminal (part of Zhenghua, now know as Bt Panjang New Town) in 1985. when petir rd became accessible to vehicular traffic, the terminal was shifted to Petir Rd in 1986. service 5 was then amended to Zhenghua Terminal at Petir Rd.
Why the new town is firstly known as Zhenghua, before Bukit Panjang? (off topci though)
at first, it was named after a small village population around the Bt Timah/Bt Panjang area. Bukit Panjang Estate was located around Teck Whye, off Choa Chu Kang Rd (the 1st gen HDB flats at Teck whye and also the 32 block of single story flats around the village. THe 32 block of single story flats were since demolished and Bt Panjang estate was started to extend its development. That estate was re-named as Choa Chu kang new town instead, which was taken from the road named "Choa Chu Kang Rd" to avoid further confusion between the two towns and also the new propesed branch line MRT. For the new Zhenghua New town, it was renamed as Bukit Panjang New Town, possibly named from the old Bt Panjang Village and its new road names was taken from the dirt roads surrounding the area (Lor Petir, Lor Gangsa, Jln Fajar, etc)
Originally posted by lemon1974:The old Sv58 does not go into Toa Payoh new town....
58 followed present route 13 to Lavender St/Kallang Rd, then 133 route to town. 56 took over 150 up to Bugis junction, then its present route to MRC.
If 104 still existed, it would be a SKG service because 156 was extended there from SER in 2001.

At the end of 1985, the first service to terminate at Bt Panjang New Town (formerly known as Zhenghua New town) was service 5, which had its route extended from Bt Timah to the Gangsa Rd Terminal for a short period of time before extending to Petir Rd, which is a roadside terminal. The Petir Rd area became a hive of a busy bus terminal serving residents of Bukit Panjang, when more bus services serving the Bt Panjang Area in the 1990s. But first we go through the changes made in the late 1980s. When there is road constraints along Petir Rd, TIBS had taken a paramount task to plan its new bus interchange, connecting Bt Panjang LRT and the Bt Panjang Plaza in 1999 so that the residents will have an improvised bus interchange for boarding & alighting actvities as well as a bus bay for buses to park.
In 1995, TIBS had also showcased its new Mercedes-Benz O405 buses around the Bukit Panjang area, before it actually takes over the Bukit Panjang services by phases.
At the end of 1986, sefvice 353 was introduced but too the service amended to start from Bishan instead and renumbered as 57.
THe only sole service of Sin Ming Rd terminal was CSS 5. On Nov 97, the service was renumbered as 605 and continued its operation without any service changes until it was eventually withdrrawn on Sep 2004. after its withdrawal, the Sin Mign Rd terminal is in a quiet state.
edit: corrections made.
Thanks for the Bishan bus route history, where was the roadside terminal located???
Bishan New Town developed quite fast in the early 1990s, a lot of the flats along St 22, 23 and 24 were built up within 1 to 2 years. Even faster than Sengkang.

59 plied from Bishan to Jln Kayu via Bishan St 11, 21, Marymount Rd, AMK Ave 6, YCK Rd, Jln Kayu (Loop at Seletar Camp Gate). It was shortened to ply from AMK somewhere in 1992/1993. Then later handed to TIBS then they renumber 866 and then went back to SBS and etc. Today is part of 86.54 was born due to the withdrawal of 134 in 1993/1994 and with the amendment of 104 to 54. If i'm not wrong 156 (Serangoon - Clementi) was subsequently carved out of this to retain 104's direct link between Bishan and Serangoon Int.
104 Serangoon - New Bridge Rd
Boundary Rd, AMK Ave 1, Bishan Rd, Braddell Rd, Thomson Rd, Keng Lee/Kg Java Rd, Bt Timah Rd, Scotts Rd, Paterson Rd and then the current 54 route to New Bridge Rd134 Bishan - New Bridge Rd
Follows 52 to Bishan St 22, Marymount Rd, Thomson Rd, current 56 route to Bugis Junction, North/South Bridge Rd, Upp Cross St, New Bridge Rd.134 was deemed unnecessary as 851 plied most of 134's route.
Service 59 was renumbered to service 866 by Tibs when the route was extended to Sengkang in early 1999.
If I am not wrong service 134's route from Bishan to NBR duplicated services 166 and 851 from Thomson Rd to Chinatown. Service 54 was introduced to reduce duplication.
Service 156 was introduced on the same day to cover service 104 from Serangoon to Thomson Road, and then to Clementi. It also covers part of service 105 route between Holland Rd (6th Ave) to Clementi, as well as 74's route along Clementi Ave 2.
Service 74 was amended to Buona Vista using the old service 202's route whereas service 105 was diverted to ply along Queensway and Commonwealth Ave.

171 cannot be renumbered as 850 is partly because the Yishun service was not newly introduced by TIBS.
There used to be a service 850 in the past plying from Yishun to Bt Merah. It was withdrawn and merged with the current service 167.

you mean the one that that i can see when taking 178 towards coporation road?
187 was extended to WDL the same day 951 was shortened to BPJ and renumbered 180.
BTW, was 77 under BBDEP all along, even when it was a loop service between Marina Ctr and Farrer Rd? Where exactly did it loop? Was it the same place as 186 before St mike's extension?

it looped at Kheam Hock Rd. last time no farrer flyover = typical u-turns which buses may have problems doing.
Service190 was amended to use BKE and PIE in 1992 or 1993. The previous route was to use BKE and exit at Jln Anak Bukit, using Dunearn Rd to city.
Did remembered the old Sv 183, 200 (From Bt Panjang), 209
Anybody remembered the Turf Club Bus Services SBS introduced when Turf Club Kranji first opened?
I remember that was this Service 788 plying between Clementi, West Coast, Bukit Panjang and Turf Club.
I remembered there is Service 781 to 788.
Never got to take this bus though.
