The history of Pasir Ris service can be traced back as early as 1984, when its lone service, 403, which plys from Pasir Ris Rd (Pasir Ris Beach paek) to Elias Rd and loops back. This service only operates only on Suns & PHs on selected timings only.
Not many have noticed that Pasir Ris (in the past there was Kampong Pasir Ris which is off Loyang Rd) was once a fishing village, which coupled together with Loyang area, facing the sea and the famous Pasir Ris Bach Chalet Resort and the pasir ris park. But until in the late 1980s, several HDB flats were completed in Pasir Ris mainly block 1xx and the NTUC Pasir Ris Resort (now Downtown East) was also erected just around pasir Ris Close/Pasir Ris Dr 3.
The only service, whcih was the first service to terminate at Pasir Ris terminal at Pasir Ris Dr 6 was service 12, which was extended from Somapah Terminal because that terminal was closed permanently in 1989 and at the same time shortened to New Bridge Rd. Another service 19, which loops at Pasir Ris Dr 6 from Bedok, was also being amended to terminate at Pasir Ris Ter until when the new Pasir Ris Int opened, then service 12 and 19 was amended to terminate at the new Pasir Ris Int.
when Service 4 was being merged with Service 19, the service became Pasir Ris to St. Michael's ter in 1989. Service 19 was then withdrawn and a new feeder service 350 from Pasir Ris to Pasir Ris Dr 4 (Loop) was introduced, followed by 351, 352, 353 in the later years of Pasir Ris Services.
Service 403 was amended to start its operations from pasir Ris Int to pasir Ris Rd (Loop), to enhance its services to the newly developed Pasir Ris New Town.
PASIR RIS SERVICES IN 1990
4 - To St Michael's Ter
8 - To Toa Payoh (AIRCON SERVICE)
12 - To New Bridge Rd
350 - To Pasir Ris Dr 4 (Loop)
351 - To Pasir Ris St 11 (Loop)
352 - To pasir Ris St 12 (Loop)
353 - To Pasir Ris Dr 10 (Loop)
403 - To Pasir Ris Rd (Loop)
Another interesting point to know about Service 350, is that the service runs through Pasir Ris Close / NTUC Pasir Ris Resotr (the looping point of current Service 354) on selected timings only. On other occasion, the service would directly continue via Pasir Ris Dr 3.

saw a 1991 map which showed 4 route...seems almost similar to 21 except the Bedok MRT part...
so 350 used to go into pasir ris close as part of 354?

First major re-organisation of bus system by Government - Ten Chinese bus companies were combined into three.
An effort to consolidate the numerous small bus companies that were plagued with problems of poor management and labour unrest.
With the re-organisation, the three bus companies each served a different geographical sector.
Formation of NTUC Comfort co-operative and other taxi firms launched from late 1970s
The three bus companies were further merged to form Singapore Bus Service (SBS).
SBS later evolved to become what we now know as SBS Transit Ltd.
The new name, introduced in 2001, reflected SBS Transit's role as a multi-modal operator of bus, MRT and LRT.
Bus lanes introduced.
To improve travel time on buses, left-most lanes on major roads were designated for exclusive use by buses during peak hours.
Designated bus lanes have improved bus speeds by at least 15%. This means commuters can get to their destination faster.
Over the years, we have extended the use of this cost-effective measure. As at 2000, 120km of bus lanes were in operation.
Double-decker buses began plying on our roads.
Trans-Island Bus Services Limited (TIBS) became Singapore's 2nd public bus operator. TIBS later underwent a re-branding exercise and is now known as SMRT Buses Ltd.
The basic bus services run by SBS Transit and SMRT Buses Ltd formed the backbone of Singapore's bus network.
The basic bus services are supplemented by express and rapid services, premier services, night services and Scheme B services. These services help to meet commuting demands during peak hours.
Air-conditioned buses introduced.
Bendy buses have an additional exit for faster and more convenient alighting. Its carrying capacity is 144, highest among the fleet of all public bus operators.
Bukit Panjang LRT system, Singapore's 1st feeder rail system, started operations.
Toa Payoh bus interchange does more than just let commuters wait for buses in air-conditioned comfort. It is also integrated with the underground MRT station and nearby shops and offices.
This allows commuters to zip from different modes of transport to and from home, office or shopping malls.
After its successful trial along Orchard Road, the full-day bus lane scheme was launched in five more locations on 1 April 2007, together with the revision of bus lane operation hours. These new locations are Eu Tong Sen Street, Hill Street, Victoria Street, Bras Basah Road and Somerset Road / Penang Road.

miss the old times.
The Hino on Express 521 was TIB950R. It was KJDEP 961 at start and placed on WLDEP 521 before joining its fleet of 188 in KJDEP
But then, btw I know one of its TIBS Nissan Civilian buses (forgot either PH1529D or PH1530Z) was converted into Singapore's first Zero Emission Electric Bus. when TIBS did the conversion of the minibus?
I believe that something is wrong on the histroy of public transport syatem on the LTA Website
The re-organisation of the 10 clustered chinese bus companies into 3 bus companies, the ABC, ABS & UBC (inclusive of STC), does not take place in the year 1970. Somehow, the re-organisation only took place on 11 April 1971.

you missed out STC.
Even the bendies, only batch I's licensed cap is 144. subsequent purchases were all capped to 132.
Some things you might not know about the formation of Trans-Island Bus Services (TIBS)
- the Singapore Shuttle Bus has an initial plans of having a 2nd full-day bus company in 1981, and has already been surverying the northern parts of Singapore (Woodlands and Sembawang). It engages the ROV to study the plan for full time bus firm for Woodlands and Senbawang.
- the final naming of the company, Trans-Island Bus Services, was chosen on 1 May 1982, and intends to buy 209 new buses with a total cost of $60m. Its buses were being rolled out in the yaer 1983-85. Its incorporation of the company was on 31 May 1982.
- SSB's initial plans to build a $3 million Ang Mo Kio Depot in 1980, but its plans were later being scrapped. However, the new TIBS Ang Mo Kio Dpot was constructed and completed in 1986 to handle maintenance works and housed its headquarters in the depot.
- Three other private bus companies, the NTUC Comfort, Naval Base Bus Services, SB Transnet Enterprises and SSB alone had shown its interest in running its Woodlands and Sembawang lines.
- Its inauguration of TIBS operations was started on 3 Apr 1983, with 2 services 160 and 167 taken over from SBS.

Hmm, maybe I should contribute the Changi Point (Now known as Changi Village) Bus Services. Some FAQs below.
In the past, which bus company used to operate the Changi Point / Changi Village Bus Services before its bus reorganisation on 11 Apr 1971?
Well, there were only 3 main services and 1 variant services operated by Changi Bus Co. Ltd. before its 1971 re-organistaion.
CBC 1 - Changi Pt to Capitol Building
CBC 4 - Changi Village to Telok Paku Sch
CBC 5- Changi Village to Lloyd Lease Estate
CBC 1A - Changi Point to Tanah Merah Rd
Changi Bus Co Ltd also operates 1 main and variant service each from Guillemard Rd. CBC 3 would operate from Guillemard Rd / Lim Ah Woo Rd to Kg Batatk off Jln Eunos, while CBC 3A, from Guillemard Rd / Lim Ah Woo Rd to Kaki Bukit Malay Settlement.
During the Bus Reoragnisation on 11 Apr 1971, whereby 11 bus companies including STC were re-organised into 4 bus companies together with STC, what are the bus services that were introduced and which bus company group they fall into?
The Changi Point / Changi Village bus services were under the ABS Group, with 3 services, Services 1, 2 & 4.
1 - Changi Point to Delta Cirus
2 - Changi Point to C'wealth Ave/North Buona Vista Rd
4 - Changi Point to Lloyd Leas Estate (Loop)
Were there any introduction of any bus services between the period of 1971 to 1974?
There was ABS 1A and 2A in fact. They were the variant of ABS 1 and 2 respectively, terminating at the same terminating point.
ABS 1 runs via Changi Rd, Kallang Rd, Beach Rd, Senton Way
ABS 1A runs via Telok Paku Rd, Tanah Merah Besar Rd, North and South Bridge Rds.
ABS 2 runs via Changi Rd, NOrth Bridge Rd, South Bridhe Rd
ABS 2A runs via Telok Paku Rd, Connaugh t Dr, Beach Rd, Shenton Way.
ABS 1 A and 2A would proceed to Telok Paku Rd, Nicool Dr, Tanah Merah Beasr Rd, Upp Changi Rd, New Changi Rd and continue its route via Changi Rd.
During the 1974 Rationalisation, what were the changes made?
Basically, the variants affected. Service 1A became Service 3 while Service 2A was withdrawn.
It was noted that Service 3 was subsequently withdrawn just few years later.
Were there any more introduction of Changi Point Bus Services made in the late 1970s?
Service 9, from Geylang Fringe CP to Changi Point was introduced in 1976.
With the introduction of feeder bus services at Changi Point, 3 new services were introduced - 210, 213, 218
210 and 213 loops at Old Sarum Rd. 210 runs trough Nethravon Rd while 213 would serve the Drug Rehab Centre before looping at Old Sarum Rd.
218 was introduced when Changi Hospital became a government hospital, which was formerly known as the RAF Changi Hospital and took over its operations.
Why was Upp Changi Rd was renamed as Changi Village Rd? And how Changi Point became Changi Village?
Upp Changi Rd existed as a dirt track serving the rural districts of Changi in the past. With the cutting of its roads of the Upp Changi Rd, with the development of Chai Chee Rd/Bedok New Town and the development of Changi Airport, Upp Changi Rd became segmented. Changi Village, in fact was part of Upp Changi Rd and to avoid further confusion, the segment of the road serving Changi Village became Changi Village Rd.
Changi Village became a landmark, partly because of a famous seafood restaurant at Changi Village Road and a small holiday accomodation units at the HDB flats.
What were the services being introduced in the later stages till the present day? And were there any withdrawal of services during the period?
On the feeders - 210, 213, 218, it was believed that due to weak demand, the services were withdrawn.
Service 1 was withdrawn in 1989.
Service 2 was amneded to Loyang Ave and Loyang Way in 1981 and was shortened to New Bridge Rd instead of Buona Vista during the MRT Rationalisation.
Service 14 from Bt Marah to Somapah, was extended to Changi Village in 1989, with the closure of Sompah Ter and subsequently shortened to Bedok Int.
Service 29 was amended to Changi Village in 1994, when Service 19 was introduced. It was amended to serve Tampines St 41 and Ave 9 in 2003.
===============================================================
IN addition, 2 new services were introduced - 59 and 109 making it into 4 services in Changi Village
59 - From Bishan to Changi Village introduced on 31 JUl 2005
109 - From Serangoon to Changi Viallge introduced on 28 May 2006.
