- 86 is withdrawn on 18 December 1983 (and merged with route 97). It was first started on 20 June 1977, using Leyland Atlanteans. It goes from Tampines Way to Shenton Way (people untouched this route by now)
Service 86 was amended to Hougang Int for a very short while before it eventually merged with Service 97 previously serving as a peak hour service from Jurong East - Shenton Way- 179 usually started on 1985 (it is because of Bukit Batok New Town), and was withdrawn in 1990 with the opening of MRT.
It was introduced on 18 May 1985 and was extended to Choa Chu Kang Terminal on 18 Dec 1988.- 182 (Marsiling - Shenton Way) was withdrawn in 1996 with the opening of Woodlands MRT Extension.
It was amended to Woodlands Reg Int and was withdrawn on 10 March 1996.- 183 (New Bridge Road - Jurong) was withdrawn in 1990 maybe is because either the MRT rationalisation.
With the inauguration of Transitlink 1st Integration Exercise, this service was withdrawn.- 190 (Bukit Panjang - New Bridge Road) was extended to Choa Chu Kang in 1992.
I believe this change was due to the Transitlink Intergration Exercise in 1991.- 192 (Jurong - South Canal Road) was withdrawn in 1988 with the opening of MRT line.
The withdrawal of Service 192 was not just the opening of the MRT line. On 18 Dec 1988, the service was integrated with Service 51 and subsequently extended.- 194 (South Canal - Yong Siak Street) was withdrawn in 1993, and another route (Jurong Bird Park Shuttle) was started in 1994.
The former 194 withdrawal is due to poor demand. As for the new 194 that heads to Jurong Bird park, most tourists would rely on 251 in the past and had to walk a distance to the opposite bus stop to board 251 back to Boon Lay. Hence 194 was introduced.

About St Michaels and Kent Ridge, how long have they existed? not sure if this was mentioned before or not.

For the old 194, it's very likely it would not be able to continue on w/ 12m buses.

When 86 was merged with 97, did the new 97 use the first batch of Atlanteans introduced in 1977 or are they transferred to Braddell Bus Depot for services 140, 159, etc?
Was 179 initially introduced as Bukit Batok or Bukit Panjang to New Bridge Road?
Before 190 was extended to Chua Chu Kang, did it use double deckers?
For the old route 194 (South Canal - Yong Siak Street), was Albion Vikings 10.4metres being deployed as the roads in the estate are narrow?

Kent Ridge Terminal - 28 years
St Michael's Terminal - 27 years
Note:
1) For St Michaels Terminal, this terminal was also known as Whampoa Rd Terminal. Its former bus terminal was at the now-demolished Jalan Aman HDB flats.
2) Kent Ridge Terminal was erected to replace Pasir Panjang Rd Terminal

1) Service 97 began using Leyland Atlantean DDs, mainly the Metsec / WAs bodies on Feb 1985.
2) Service 179 was Bukit Batok to New Bridge Rd when it was introduced.
3) Service 190 didn't use any DDs when it was introuduced as Bt Panjang - New Bridge Rd service.
4) Service 194 previously used Albion Vikings.

By the way, where is the exact location of the former Jalan Aman HDB flats?

It's opposite the existing Blk 34/35, currently an open field.
There used to be a road called Jln Aman that cut across the field.

It was existed for 20 years until it meets its demise. At that time when this Marine Parade Terminal was built, SBS was in the process of phasing out roadside terminal with certain constraints like parking problems with buses and less facility for the crew.
Marine Parade Terminal was to replace the former Marine Terrace roadside Terminal

If you look through the 1988 street directory or its earlier
versions, it was actually at the mid-point of
Jalan Teneteram,
which was bounded by now-demolished HDB blocks
18, 19 & 24 and
facing Blk 22.
Most of its older HDB flats at the area were demolished
inclusive of a Mkt/FC
nearby, leaving only the 3 remaining Blks 20, 21
& 22.
Is there any reason why 853 got extended to Upper East Coast (formerly Marine Parade) only on sundays and PH? Is it because of the crowd demands over there?
Also, other than the 3 mercz(TIB 590X-591T,593M) 178 has in the past(90s), what are the other fleets 178 received?
For 167, was it under Dual depot control since it was established?

1) Its not just crowd demand. The extension to Upper East Coast is to serve residents living in private estates at Upper East Coast to provide linkage to Yishun, Ang Mo Kio & Marine Parade, beside the service 13.
2) Other fleets include NAC Hino & Nissan UDs and also DAFs. TIB705H - TIB707C were once did sv 178 - not sure whether it used to be 178 perm.
3) 167 was never a dual depot since its establishement on 3 April 1983. At its humble start, all of its service took over by TIBS were under KJDEP. Until when AMDEP depot was completed, 167 became AM/KJ, alongside with 160, 161, 164, 169.

Was it because of Upp. Thomson road and hence it got under AMDEP?
Just wondering though.

Nope. It is generally depending on the location of the services TIBS plied in. AMDEP was built to house the departments operating in two separate locations as well as a depot for Yishun/Sembawang/Admiralty Svcs and the incoming of more new TIBS Japanese buses (Hino/Nissan) adding into the fleet.
AMDEP has a temporary depot while its HQs are under construction and hence the depot was re-housed into the location of the HQ.
Distribution Points:
Yishun Svcs - AMDEP
Sembawang/Admiralty Rd West Svcs - AMDEP/KJDEP
Woodlands Svcs - KJDEP
But then why when WLDEP opened in 1998, Those Yishun based services came to WLDEP, such as 851,852,853,854,855, of which 852 came back in 08 and stayed at WLDEP until now, and 851 for 3 years, Is there any reason for that?
Or a 'trial' period to see if they are suitable for WLDEP?

There was no such thing as a trial period.
Only some Yishun services 171, 811, 812, 851, 852, 853, 854, 855, 856 and Services in outlying areas like 167 and 980 were once controlled by WLDEP when the depot had just opened in 1998. Services like 167, 169 and 980 still controls under AMDEP, making it dual depot control.
*Note: 160 was under WL/AM, even though its renumbering took place on 27 Dec 1998, as service 980
However, in AMDEP side, it also shifted its focus to the North East side, mainly Sengkang, Jalan Kayu & Punggol, not just Yishun alone.
I think I did mentioned in the previous posts. You can take a look at Page 32 of this thread below starting from that post onwards. Link is here.

Hmm, previously those lances you had seen before were from AMDEP.
When 852 became AM/KJ, Lances from AMDEP began to serve on 852.
However, some of the lances were xfered to WLDEP to do 852 (meaning those lances you normally seen running on 852 now like 938c, 1014l, etc)
