Even earlier, SBS7198T on 157, in Nov 2004.
Originally posted by tranquilice:Service 81 did not ply Stamford Rd and Prinsep St, instead it ply bi-directional along Victoria St and Middle Rd. Before the route amendment, it did ply Waterloo St together with service 147 and 163. The reason why they no longer ply Waterloo St wasn't due to the pedestrian mall but was due to permanent closure of Waterloo St between Stamford Rd and Bras Basah Rd.
81 did ply Stamford Rd & Bras Basah Rd. It was amended to Middle St.

Service 99 was then amended to cover up 175 and 188 on the day of withdrawal.

To Gus.Chong:
In the mean time, I would be preparing the New Bridge Rd Bus Service history. Do check back next week for the Shenton Way ones.
For the 175 & 188 thing, didn't you posted the information that 99 was amended on 19 May 1991, not 20 Jan 1991?
Thank you for the New bridge Road histories.

May I ask something, when is 182M (182X / 182#) introduced? Is it when 182 merged with 183 in 2002 making it serve Tuas Checkpoint?

182# was introduced somewhere in 2001. Not sure what was the route details back then. I know that 182# was not introduced when 182 and 183 merged in 2002.

ITS HISTORY OF PRINCE EDWARD RD TERMINAL AND SHENTON WAY TERMINAL AND ITS BUS SERVICES
Back to the 1950s and 1960s, the Singapore Traction Company was the only bus company that monopolizes the city area such as Shenton Way, Tanjong Pagar and New Bridge Rd. It restricts other chinese bus companies from entering the city area, as the roads in the city area was specially used for STC buses.
(STC was owned and incorporated in United Kingdom, as Singapore was a British colony)
If you look back to the Singapore Street Dirctory in the 1960s (those back pages), you would only see STC bus services plying around the city area while the 10 Chinese bus companies, would operate services in the repsective rural districts and new towns.
Shenton Way Bus Terminal was only a roadside terminal located at Shenton Way with boarding bus stops that were frequently over-crowding. There wasn't a proper bus parking bays and its buses were simply parked on the road side leading to congestion.
When the re-organisation of the bus service started on 11th Apr 1971, its bus services were then extended to Prince Edward Rd. It was not known exactly, if the STC services were ever terminate at the Prince Edward Rd before its re-organisation. The terminal was located just a walk away from Singapore Polytechnic and Shenton Way.

With this construction as a first of a kind, this had known to free up more space for urban

Shenton Way Bus Terminal began its operations on 28th June 1987, with SBS Services 60, 70, 82, 130, 131, 172, 175, 186, 193 and TIBS Service 161 were made to terminate at the new terminal. Back then, boarding was allowed at Palmer Rd, with 4 new berths erected. THe alighting point was at Marina House, Shenton Way.
(On 5th July 1987, Service 188 was abolished and the terminus at Ulu Pandan ceased to operate)
On 26th Apr 2010, Shenton Way Bus Terminal would have to re-locate again, this time round, it is visible to the public (i.e. the current location of Shenton Way Bus

With the amendments of Service 106 and 133 extended to Shenton Way, the terminal was relocated to accomodate with the 3 additional bus services at Shenton Way, with the other being, the newly introduced 133M from Shenton Way to Marina Center. It was also, on the same day, the roads that served the Marina Bay Sands - Bayfront Ave - was opened to vehicluar traffic and new bus stops were erected for public buses to call there.
(The Scania K310UD, SBS7888K, was the only demo bus that first operates as a trial basis on 133M (subsequently to 133) and terminates at the new Shenton Way Bus Terminal. It first made its appearence on 133M on 17 May 2010.)

182 was introduced back in late 1990s.
Jurong East - Tuas via Jurong East St 13, Jurong East Ctrl, Jurong Town Hall Rd, Boon Lay Way, Corporation Rd, Jln Ahmad Ibrahim, Tuas West Dr.

Service 99 was originally Jurong East - Boon Lay Gdns service, later extended to Clementi & Jurong West St 91 on 13th March 1988. On 19 May 1991, it was amended via Jurong West Ave 5 & St 72, causing it to be duplicating 242, which led to 242's shortening in 2009.Service 175 was shortened from Tuas to Jurong West St 91 on 7th July 1990 due to Boon Lay MRT Station's opening. It was withdrawn on 20th January 1991.
Service 188 was introduced on 10th July 1988, from Jurong to Jurong West St 91. In 1990, it was amended to Jurong Bus Park. On 20th January 1991, it was withdrawn.
The 242 part is not true, back then there wasn't much HDB devt in Jurong West Extn to begin with.

Yes, it's introduced in 1998 from Jurong East to Tuas, when Tuas Ter opened. Shortened to Boon Lay in 2001. For more information, see the last third post on page 55 which I posted. (if I'm not wrong)
But what he's referring is 182#, not 182.

Your post is wrong. Look at this post which SBS8533C written.

Bt batok int, Bt Batok Cttrl, Bt Batok West Ave 3, Bt Batok Rd, Jurong Rd, PIE, Jurong Rd, Upp Jurong Rd, Jln Ahmad Ibrahim Rd, Tuas West Rd, Pioneer Rd and Tuas Rd (Loop)
Return via Upp Jurong Rd, PIE, Jurong Rd, Bt Batok Rd, Bt Batok West Ave 3, Bt Batok Ctrl, Bt BAtok Int.
When the Service was amended to loop at Jurong West St 91 on 7 Jul 1990, the day after teh Boon Lay MRT Station opens:
Bt Batok Int, Bt Batok Ctrl, Bt Batok West Ave 3, Bt Btok Rd, Jurong Rd, PIE, Upp Jurong Rd, Jurong West St 72, Jurong West Ave 5, Pioneer Rd North, JUrong Wst St 91 (Loop)
Return via Jurong West St 92, St 91, Pioneer Rd North, Jurong West Ave 5, Jurong West St 72, Upp Jurong Rd, PIE, Jurong Rd, Bt batok Rd, Bt Batok West Ave 3, Bt Batok Ctrl, Bt Batok Int.
However, in this case, the withdrawal reasons for 175 was not because of the amendments of 99. Only service 242 used to ply along Jurong West St 72 and Ave 5. This service, together with 188 was withdrawn on 20 Jan 1991 to minimise route duplcation.
To enhance the areas of Jurong West New Town (focusing on Jurong West St 72 and Ave 5), service 99 from Clementi was amended to serve Jurong West St 72 and Ave 5 on 19 May 1991, just 4 months after the withdrawal of 175 and 188.

Service 980 during the beginning days of WLDEP operations in 1998-1999 was worst off with majority Nissan UD fleets (the above mentiones were perms only during this period), after which 980 became full AMDEP controlled due to the SBS/Tibs swop.
In Jan 2001, service 980 came back under partial WLDEP again, this time round with full Scania fleets (565U 658K 665P 666L 672T 673R). There were Nissan UDs from WLDEP too but not very common then.
