For info service 171 was also under SBS in the past, and it was the only SBS service to terminate at Yishun Interchange. 171 was fnally handed over to Tibs only in Nov 1995.

LOR 1 GEYLANG / GEYLANG FRINGE CAR PARK BUS TERMINAL
Its story...
The Lor 1 Geylang Ter started off as a fringe car park and a bus terminus for CSS buses cum the SSB Geylang Depot. However, the terminus was not heavily used when CSS kicked start its operations in May 1975.
The terminal was constructed and was never being used by SBS or SMRT, neitehr do NTUC Comfort CSS bsues terminated at. It was solely used by the insolvent Singapore Shuttle Bus as a commissionised bus service for CSS. There was only one service plus a variant for that parent service - SSB Service 10 - running in different routing system assigned by the timings. 10 and 10A runs in AM/Off and PM peak respectivelt from Lor 1 Geylang to New Bridge Rd, with selected stops. 10B only runs at PM Peak, and terminates at South Canal Rd.
Later on, the CSS was extended to serve the major HDB towns. SSB Service 10 was being abolished and replaced with a new set of CSS bus services, by the SSB and NTUC Comfort.
CSS No. 9 was the only service that terminates at Lor 1 Geylang. It was withdrawn on 27th June 1988, though NTUC Comfort had already faced several difficulties in competition with SSB. On the same year, its NTUC Comfort CSS Services, 1 and 4 followed by 6 were withdrawn. It was then CSS Service 9 did not stay for long despite the withdrawal of all NTUC Comfort CSS Services.
However, the SSB Depot remains until the entire shutdown on 28th Apr 2007, with the bus terminal that only houses SBS 11 & 175 and SMRT 853, 961, 980, 985. The site is still there but mostly you would see taxis, Bus Plus buses, SMRT PA Dennis Lance and Nissan UD Training Buses that usually parks there regularly.
The bus terminus (known as "Geylang Fringe Car Park" or "Geylang Terminal") started life as the SBS and CSS terminus. SBS Services 5, 9, 46, 71, 197 began to terminate at the bus Terminus when its bus bays were expanded to accomodate those SBS services. In 2002, again, the bus bays were upgraded again to allow bendies to terminate there. Previously, 980 does not have any bendies when it was amended to Lor 1 Geylang, previously knwon as 160 at Crawford St, on which 160 used to have crossover bendies when it was introduced by KJDEP.

What was the route of 46.
Truth to be told, 961 does not go to Sembawang. It goes to Woodlands Regional.

Service 858 was introduced in 4 Feb 1996, initially from Woodlands to Yishun with the opening of the new Woodlands Regional Interchange. The route initially plied along Yishun Ave 3 passing by Yishun Junior College. Only in Nov 1997 service 858 was extended to Changi Airport via SLE/TPE/PIE, on the same day the route was diverted to ply along Yishun Ave 5 instead of Ave 3.
I know all this. I was just giving a shorter and easier explain. In zero gravity's question, he never mention what happened to 858 after the introduction.
I remembered 162 did had O305 deployed.
Reminds me abt Geylang Lor 1, wat was 146 introduced for?

197 - Lor 1 Geylang to Jurong. It was extneded to Boon Lay but was shortened back to Jurong East due to the MRT. It was again extended to Bedok int.
Service 5: Beside the amendment to Margaret Dr as mentioned, it was also amended to ply Holland Ave and Sixth Ave, as a result of the shortening of route for service 200 (Kent Ridge - Jalan Anak Bukit loop became Kent Ridge - Holland Dr loop), the shortening of service 185 (Choa Chu Kang - Shenton Way became Choa Chu Kang - Jalan Anak Bukit loop) and the introduction of service 186 (Shenton Way - Farrer Road loop).
Service 148 was between Clementi and Lor 1 Geylang, not between Buona Vista and Lor 1 Geylang as mentioned. The previous service 148 was between Toa Payoh and Buona Vista.
Service 162: I don't remember it terminated at Lor 1 Geylang, I may be wrong. It was a loop service between Ang Mo Kio and Lor 3 Geylang.
Service 197: It was shortened from Boon Lay to Jurong East not due to MRT but due to service 198 which was Jurong East - Sims Place became Boon Lay - Bukit Merah.
One more to add: service 401. Bedok - Lor 1 Geylang from 1996 or 1997 to 2003. Originally, it was a loop service between Bedok / Chai Chee and East Coast Park. It was amended in 2003 to loop at Tomlinson Rd. Amended again in 2004 to current route.

Hmm, I think I did mentioned before about 401 in 1997 when it was being amended to terminate at Geylang Lor 1 but didn't reflect it on the list.

You make a typo error, it is 148, not 146.
The introduction of 148 is due to the amendment of 147 to skip Victoria St & North Bridge Rd.

His second question is not about 146 as that service had no relationship with Lor 1 Geylang.

Yes, and that was the time when I asked you about the amendment around page 52/53.
Adding on to svc 197 history, it was merged with the old route 41 (BDK to BMR via Marin Parade).
How many mercz did 160 had, before it was re-numbered 980 in 1998?
If I am not wrong 782J and 762S were perms before it changed to 980.
Now I am adding on, the new History of Bus Routes from 1971 to 2010 (39 Years of Service), together with older history of bus routes before 1971. It is still under construction.
SBS8533C, can you put in the history of Harbourfront (WTC) buses services.
